Episode Three | The Covenant Of Fire | The Occult’s Bride | Chosen Against My Will | Short Mystery Story

The door splintered with a deafening crack. Shards of wood scattered across the floor as an unseen force blasted through like a hurricane. The air reeked of sulfur and smoke.

Three men in cloaks stood framed in the doorway, their faces hidden in shadows. The leader carried a torch that burned with black flame, licking upward without consuming.

The stranger gripped my hand tighter, pulling me behind him. “Stay close.”

The leader’s voice was like gravel dragged over stone:

“You were chosen. You cannot resist. By covenant of fire, you are bound.”

I clutched my stomach instinctively, trembling, as the firelight reflected in their eyes. My unborn child. My breath caught.

The Fire Circle

The cloaked men stepped forward, chanting in unison. Strange markings began to glow on my floor—the same circle of ash they had drawn before, but now it burned with living flame.

The leader raised the black torch high.

“Bride of the Flame,” he intoned, “step into the circle. The covenant must be sealed tonight.”

I shook my head violently, whispering the words of Yeshua through my tears:

> “If the Son sets you free, you shall be free indeed.” (John 8:36)

The fire flickered, faltering for a brief second, but then roared back with fury.

The stranger stepped forward, placing himself between me and the circle. “You have no authority here,” he shouted, his voice steady. “This one is marked by the Holy One of Israel.”

The Stranger Reveals Himself

The leader sneered. “And who are you, broken man, to oppose us? You bear our scars.”

The stranger raised his burned hands, showing them openly. “Yes. I walked your path once. I bore your chains. But I was delivered by the Name above all names. You cannot bind me again, and you will not bind her.”

My heart pounded. Delivered? Could he truly have once been one of them?

The leader spat onto the floor. “Traitor. You will burn with her.”

The Clash of Covenants

Suddenly, the fire circle surged outward, racing across the floor like a snake. The room shook. I cried out, covering my face.

The stranger lifted his voice in prayer:

“Baruch atah Adonai, Elohei Yisrael—deliver us from the hand of the oppressor!”

The flames struck his feet but did not consume him. He turned to me, shouting above the roar:

“Take courage! Do not fear! Remember the words of the Prophet—”

And I remembered, as though the Spirit Himself whispered it into my heart:

> “When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame kindle upon you.” (Isaiah 43:2)

Hope surged through me, even as the walls cracked from the heat.

The Terrible Demand

The leader’s voice grew louder, filled with fury.

“If you will not join us willingly, then your child shall be taken. By blood, the covenant will be sealed!”

At his words, the torch in his hand flared, and I felt a stabbing pain in my womb. I screamed, clutching my stomach as though invisible hands tried to rip life itself from within me.

“No!” the stranger bellowed. His body shook as he pushed against the circle, forcing the fire back with sheer will and prayer. Sweat poured from his brow.

“Choose now!” he cried to me. “Declare aloud whose bride you are! Speak it, or they will claim you!”

The pain intensified, my vision blurring. The leader raised the torch higher, chanting faster, the other men joining in, their voices like thunder.

I opened my mouth, but the words choked in my throat. Fear bound me like iron.

And then—

The window shattered.

A gust of wind roared into the house, scattering the ash circle into the air. The black flame sputtered and died. The cloaked men staggered back, shielding their faces as though struck by lightning.

In the wind, a voice thundered—not human, but from heaven:

> “You are Mine.” (Isaiah 43:1)

The floor quaked. The men shrieked. The leader dropped the torch—it shattered like glass.

But before they fled into the night, the leader pointed at me with a trembling hand. His final words burned like poison in my ears:

“This is not finished. The covenant of fire will claim its bride. And the child… will not live.”

The door slammed shut on its own. Silence fell.

The Stranger’s Warning

I collapsed, gasping for breath. The stranger knelt beside me, his eyes grave.

“You are safe—for now. But the war has only begun. The covenant they speak of is ancient, older than their order, and they will not stop until it is fulfilled… or destroyed.”

Tears blurred my vision. “Why me? Why my child?”

He did not answer at first. His silence was heavier than any words. Then he whispered, almost reluctantly:

“Because prophecy names you.”

My heart froze.

“Prophecy?” I whispered. “What prophecy?”

He looked at me, and his eyes carried both sorrow and fire.

“The prophecy of the Bride of Flame.”
