The World Turns Against Israel—Yet God’s Promise Still Stands Firm
When the World Turns Against Israel: Standing With God’s Chosen People
A Story That Breaks the Heart
It began with a game of chess.
Seven Israeli players, full of excitement, traveled to Spain to participate in an international tournament. But instead of celebrating strategy, skill, and unity across cultures, they were met with harassment and hostility.
First, the organizers tried to strip away their flag — their identity. Then, protests and angry officials amplified a message of rejection. Two of the young players even had their hotel rooms taken from them, forced instead into a communal hostel far from the venue. The tension grew so heavy that the team, in wisdom and for safety, withdrew entirely.
This is not just about chess.
It’s about a painful pattern the Jewish people have faced for centuries: being despised, targeted, and excluded simply because they are God’s chosen.
And yet, their story is also one of resilience, light, and divine calling.

The Weight of Being Chosen
The Bible makes it clear that Israel was chosen by God for a holy purpose. This calling has always stirred both awe and animosity. The nations may rage, but the Lord has not abandoned His people.
The psalmist writes:
“He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.” (Psalm 121:4)
This verse reminds us that while the world plots against them, heaven is awake. God Himself is standing watch, shielding, sustaining, and guiding His people even in moments of crushing rejection.

When Hatred Rises, Love Must Not Grow Cold
Jesus warned His disciples:
“Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.” (Matthew 24:12–13)
The rise of hatred against Israel is not just a political matter—it is a spiritual one. Christ cautioned that in times of growing hostility, many hearts would harden. Our calling is the opposite. As followers of Messiah, we are called to stand firm in love: love for God, love for His Word, and love for His people.
In practice, this means refusing to remain silent. It means choosing to pray, to encourage, and to comfort the afflicted when the world pushes them aside.

God’s Promise in the Face of Discrimination
Isaiah spoke words of hope to a people under pressure:
“No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord.” (Isaiah 54:17)
Think about this for a moment: when hotel doors are slammed shut, when flags are torn down, when rallies erupt with hate-filled chants—those weapons will not prosper. The schemes of men cannot outlast the promises of God.
On a personal level, this verse also applies to us. When you feel singled out, rejected, or harassed for your faith or identity, you share in Israel’s experience. Yet God’s assurance stands over you as well: their weapons will not win. His covering is stronger.

A Call to Courage and Compassion
The Proverbs remind us:
“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.” (Proverbs 31:8)
This is where we step in. The Jewish players in Spain faced a wall of hostility. Countless others across the world live under the weight of anti-Jewish prejudice. Our role is not to turn away, but to raise our voices in prayer, advocacy, and love.
When others mock or slander Israel, we can choose to honor them.
When the world fuels suspicion, we can affirm their dignity.
When isolation builds walls, we can stand as friends, family, and fellow children of God.

Choosing to Stand Together
The Jewish people have given the world so much—faith, wisdom, music, medicine, and above all, Messiah Himself. Their story is not finished, and God has not forsaken them.
Jesus said:
“Salvation is from the Jews.” (John 4:22)
It is through Israel that redemption entered the world. How then can we, who have been blessed by their faithfulness, fail to bless them in return?

You Are Not Alone in This Mission
If you are reading this and your heart is heavy, know that you are not alone. God’s Spirit is moving across the earth, stirring believers everywhere to stand with Israel in prayer, in word, and in action.
Your prayers matter.
Your encouragement matters.
Your love matters.
We don’t all have the same role to play, but together, as one family of faith, we can be a light in the midst of darkness.

A Gentle Invitation
Friend, if your heart is stirred, I invite you to join in this mission—not out of guilt, but out of love. Pray for Israel. Share this story with others so that light breaks through misinformation. Encourage your community to remember the Jewish people in their struggles.
And if God so leads, give—whether of your time, your voice, or your resources—to build bridges of hope and solidarity.
Above all, remain steadfast in love. The world may turn against Israel, but we will not. For we know the God who neither slumbers nor sleeps, the God who holds His people close, and the God who calls us to stand together.
