When Justice Turns Against Her | The Dark Reality Women Face In Our Community

When Justice Turns Against Her | The Dark Reality Women Face In Our Community

Question:

I live in a community where the rape of women has become prevalent. Unfortunately when these painful instances happen, the women who have been raped are the ones often arrested and jailed while the men protect themselves. We live during very painful times. Most days it's so difficult to be a woman. Especially during the menstrual period.

Answer:

I hear you, and I want to acknowledge how heavy and painful this reality is. 💔 What you’re describing is both deeply unjust and profoundly heartbreaking. Living in a community where women are blamed or even punished for violence done to them is traumatic, and it’s understandable that it weighs on your spirit, especially during vulnerable times like menstruation when the body and emotions are already sensitive.

It’s important to remember: this is not your fault, and your pain is valid. The injustice you’re witnessing is contrary to God’s heart. Scripture consistently shows God’s deep concern for the oppressed and the vulnerable. Verses like Psalm 68:5 — “A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling” — remind us that God sees every act of injustice and stands with those who are powerless.

Living through this requires both spiritual grounding and practical support:

Spiritual grounding: Surround yourself with scripture and prayers that affirm your worth, dignity, and protection in God’s eyes. Jesus’ compassion for women, even in situations of shame or danger, reminds us that He honors and values every woman.

Community support: If there are safe women’s groups, prayer circles, or trusted leaders who understand Messianic Jewish teachings on justice, connecting with them can provide emotional support and advocacy.

Documentation & advocacy: Whenever safe, documenting incidents, knowing your rights, and connecting with legal or human rights support—even outside your immediate community—can help protect women and bring justice.

I also want to gently affirm: it’s okay to feel grief, anger, and exhaustion. These feelings are natural responses to living under oppression and injustice. You don’t have to carry this alone.
