How to Make Matzah - And Why This Ancient Bread Might Be the Breakthrough Your Soul Has Been Craving

How to Make Matzah - And Why This Ancient Bread Might Be the Breakthrough Your Soul Has Been Craving

I didn’t expect it to hit me the way it did.

It was just flour and water.

Nothing fancy. Nothing impressive.

No yeast. No rising. No waiting.

Just… simple obedience.

And yet, standing there in my kitchen, rolling out that thin, humble dough, I felt something deeper stirring inside me—something ancient, something holy.

Something I had been missing.

The Moment I Realized Something Was Off…

Have you ever felt like your faith became… complicated?

Like somewhere along the way, the purity of it got buried under noise, pressure, expectations?

I did.

I was praying, reading Scripture, showing up—but something felt heavy.

Disconnected.

Almost like I was carrying spiritual “leaven” I couldn’t quite identify.

Then I remembered what Yeshua said:

“Watch out and beware of the leaven…” — Matthew 16:6

And suddenly it clicked.

Leaven isn’t just physical.

It’s spiritual.

  • Pride

  • Hidden sin

  • Busyness without intimacy

  • Traditions without truth

And I realized… I needed to return to something simple.

Something pure.

Something God Himself commanded His people to remember forever.

Why Matzah Isn’t Just Food… It’s a Message

When God brought Israel out of Egypt, He didn’t just deliver them—He taught them.

“You shall eat unleavened bread… for in haste you came out of the land of Egypt.” — Deuteronomy 16:3

Matzah wasn’t about convenience.

It was about freedom.

Freedom from delay.
Freedom from corruption.
Freedom from the old life.

And then Yeshua said something that changed everything for me:

“I am the bread of life.” — John 6:35

Not puffed up.

Not inflated.

But broken. Pierced. Humble.

Just like matzah.

What Happened When I Started Making Matzah at Home

I thought I was just trying a recipe.

But it became an encounter.

As I mixed the flour and water, I prayed:

“Search me, God… remove anything in me that doesn’t belong.”

As I rolled it thin, I felt Him whisper:

“Let Me strip away what is unnecessary.”

As I pierced the dough, I remembered:

“He was pierced for our transgressions…” — Isaiah 53:5

And I wept.

Because suddenly, this wasn’t just bread.

It was a mirror.

If You Feel Spiritually Stuck… This Might Be Why

Let me be honest with you.

Sometimes we’re not lacking more teaching.

We’re lacking returning.

Returning to:

  • Simplicity

  • Obedience

  • God’s appointed rhythms

  • The beauty of remembering

Matzah invites you into that.

Not as religion.

But as restoration.

So Here’s the Simple Way I Make Matzah (And Why It Matters)

You don’t need anything complicated.

Just:

  • Flour

  • Water

  • A willing heart

Steps:

  1. Mix flour and water quickly (keep it under 18 minutes to avoid fermentation)

  2. Roll it thin

  3. Pierce it with a fork

  4. Bake until crisp

That’s it.

But here’s what makes it powerful:

While you do it, invite God in.

  • Ask Him to reveal hidden “leaven”

  • Surrender distractions

  • Remember His deliverance

This Is More Than a Recipe… It’s a Reset

I didn’t realize how much I needed this until I did it.

And now?

I come back to it again and again.

Because every time, I’m reminded:

“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” — Deuteronomy 8:3

And Yeshua echoed it.

Because this has always been the invitation.

If Your Heart Is Hungry… Don’t Ignore It

Maybe this isn’t just about matzah for you either.

Maybe this is your moment to:

  • Return to the ancient paths

  • Rediscover God’s rhythms

  • Experience faith in a tangible, living way

Because faith was never meant to be distant.

It was meant to be tasted.

Ready to Go Deeper?

If this stirred something in you…

If you’re longing for a faith that feels real again

Then don’t stop here.

Start with matzah.

Let it lead you back.

Back to simplicity.
Back to truth.
Back to Him.

“Taste and see that the Lord is good…” — Psalm 34:8

Your Next Step (Don’t Miss This)

๐Ÿ‘‰ Make your first batch of matzah this week
๐Ÿ‘‰ Do it prayerfully
๐Ÿ‘‰ Share the experience with your family

And watch what God begins to uncover.

Because sometimes…

The breakthrough you’re waiting for…

Starts with something as simple as unleavened bread.
