Psalm 92:12-15 - What If Your Life Is Still Growing - Even When You Feel Forgotten?
I’ll never forget the season when I felt stuck.
Not broken… just unmoving.
Not lost… but definitely not thriving.
I remember whispering to God, “Am I still growing… or have I been left behind?”
And then I came across these words:
“The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.
They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;
To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.” — Psalm 92:12–15
Something in me broke… and healed… at the same time.
πΏ The Lie That Quietly Destroys Us
Let me say this plainly:
We live in a world that measures growth by speed, visibility, and applause.
If it's not fast, it feels like failure
If it's not seen, it feels like it doesn’t count
If it’s delayed, we assume God said “no”
But Psalm 92 doesn’t describe fast growth.
It describes deep growth.
π΄ Why a Palm Tree? Why a Cedar?
This isn’t random imagery.
When God speaks through David, He is very intentional.
π΄ The Palm Tree
Bends in storms but doesn’t break
Thrives in harsh environments
Produces fruit consistently
π² The Cedar of Lebanon
Grows slowly… but becomes massive
Deep-rooted and unshakable
Known for strength, durability, and longevity
And I realized something that changed everything:
π God is not trying to make me impressive… He is making me unshakable.
π “Planted in the House of the LORD” — The Real Secret
Let’s be honest.
Most of us want the fruit… without the planting.
But the Psalm gives a condition:
“Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish…”
Being planted means:
Staying when it’s uncomfortable
Trusting when it’s unclear
Rooting yourself in God’s presence—not just visiting it
I had to ask myself:
Am I planted… or just passing through God’s presence when I need something?
π₯ Yeshua Confirms This Pattern
This isn’t just Old Testament poetry.
Yeshua Himself echoes this same truth.
“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine…” — John 15:4
And again:
“I am the vine, ye are the branches: he that abideth in me… bringeth forth much fruit…” — John 15:5
Notice the pattern:
Not striving → but abiding
Not forcing fruit → but staying connected
π The Real Problem Most of Us Face
Let me put words to what many of us feel but don’t say:
“Why am I not seeing results?”
“Why does everyone else seem to be flourishing?”
“Did I miss my season?”
I’ve asked those same questions.
But here’s what God gently corrected in me:
π Fruit is not the proof of your timing—it's the evidence of your connection.
π± Growth You Can’t See Is Still Growth
There is a hidden phase no one talks about.
Roots grow in silence.
No applause
No validation
No visible progress
But everything depends on it.
“For as the earth bringeth forth her bud… so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth…” — Isaiah 61:11
God is working underground… long before anything appears above it.
⏳ “They Shall Still Bear Fruit…” — Even Now?
This part hit me the hardest:
“They shall still bring forth fruit in old age…”
Still.
That word carries hope.
It means:
You’re not disqualified
You’re not too late
You’re not past your purpose
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but I felt this deeply:
π God doesn’t run out of purpose for your life.
πͺ¨ “He Is My Rock” — Stability in Unstable Seasons
The Psalm ends with this declaration:
“To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock…”
Not:
My feelings are my rock
My circumstances are my rock
My progress is my rock
But He is.
And Yeshua reinforces this truth:
“Whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them… I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock.” — Matthew 7:24
Storms will come.
But the question is not if you will face pressure…
The question is:
π What are you rooted in when it comes?
π§ Practical, Heart-Level Shifts (That Changed Me)
Here’s what I began to do differently:
πΏ 1. I stopped measuring my life by visible fruit
Growth is happening—even when I can’t see it
πΏ 2. I chose to stay planted
Even when I felt nothing
Even when prayers felt unanswered
πΏ 3. I prioritized abiding over striving
Less performance
More presence
πΏ 4. I trusted God’s timing over my expectations
He sees the full picture—I only see the moment
π‘ A Question That Changed My Walk With God
Instead of asking:
“Why am I not flourishing yet?”
I started asking:
π “Am I deeply planted?”
Because Psalm 92 makes it clear:
Flourishing is not forced… it’s the natural result of being rooted in Him.
❤️ Final Encouragement (Read This Slowly)
If you feel overlooked…
If you feel delayed…
If you feel like nothing is happening…
You are not forgotten.
You are not behind.
You are not failing.
You might just be in the most important phase of all:
π± Becoming deeply rooted.
And when the time comes…
You won’t just grow.
π΄ You will flourish.
