Malachi 3:7 Devotional
Here's a devotional based on Malachi 3:7:
"From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from My statutes and have not kept them. Return to Me, and I will return to you," says Adonai of Hosts. "But you say, 'How shall we return?'" — Malachi 3:7 (TLV)
Return to Me
There is something deeply comforting about this verse. Even after generations of rebellion, Adonai's first response is not rejection—it is an invitation.
Israel had wandered from God's ways. They had ignored His commandments and drifted from His covenant. Yet instead of saying, "You have gone too far," Adonai lovingly called them home:
"Return to Me, and I will return to you."
This reveals the heart of our Heavenly Father. He delights in restoring those who repent. He does not wait for us to become perfect before welcoming us back. He asks us to turn toward Him with humble and sincere hearts.
Sometimes we drift without realizing it. Busy schedules, disappointments, distractions, or unconfessed sin can slowly weaken our fellowship with God. Like the people in Malachi's day, we may even ask, "How shall we return?" We may not recognize how far we have wandered.
Returning begins with honest self-examination. It means confessing our sins, renewing our commitment to obey God's Word, seeking Him in prayer, and choosing His ways over our own. Repentance is not merely feeling sorry—it is changing direction and walking toward Adonai once again.
Yeshua beautifully echoed this same invitation when He called people to repent and believe the Good News. Through Him, we are welcomed into restored fellowship with the Father. Every day is another opportunity to draw near to Him.
No matter how distant you feel today, God's invitation still stands. His arms remain open. His mercy is greater than your failures, and His faithfulness is stronger than your weakness.
Today, choose to return. Take one step toward Adonai, and you will discover that He has been waiting to receive you with love.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your amazing mercy and unfailing covenant love. Forgive me for the times I have drifted from Your ways. Search my heart and reveal anything that keeps me from walking closely with You. Help me to repent sincerely and to obey Your Word with joy. Draw me nearer to You each day, and let my life reflect Your holiness and Your love. Thank You that through Yeshua I can be restored and renewed. In Yeshua's name, amen.
