Sometimes Being a Godly Woman Looks Like Asking for Help
I used to think being a “strong woman of God” meant I had to carry everything.
Carry the family.
Carry the responsibilities.
Carry the expectations.
Carry the prayers.
Carry the disappointments.
Carry the things nobody else could see.
And somehow, while carrying all of that, I was still supposed to smile and say, “I’m fine.”
But somewhere along the way, I began to understand something that changed the way I looked at biblical womanhood:
Strength does not always look like carrying more.
Sometimes strength looks like admitting, “I need help.”
Sometimes wisdom looks like saying, “I don't know.”
Sometimes faith looks like asking someone trustworthy to stand beside me.
And sometimes becoming the woman God created me to be begins when I stop trying to prove that I can do everything alone.
That realization became part of the heart behind my devotional:
| 30 Day Proverbs 31 Devotional - A Journey Into Godly Womanhood |
30 Day Proverbs 31 Devotional — A Journey Into Godly Womanhood
This isn't a devotional about becoming a woman who has everything perfectly together.
It's a journey toward becoming a woman whose heart is increasingly surrendered to Hashem.
A woman learning wisdom.
A woman learning discernment.
A woman learning diligence.
A woman learning compassion.
A woman learning courage.
A woman learning when to speak.
A woman learning when to remain silent.
A woman learning when to work.
A woman learning when to rest.
And yes…
A woman learning when to ask for help.
WHAT IF WE HAVE MISUNDERSTOOD THE PROVERBS 31 WOMAN?
For years, Proverbs 31 can feel intimidating.
You read about a woman who:
- Gets up early.
- Provides for her household.
- Works with willing hands.
- Considers a field and buys it.
- Plants a vineyard.
- Makes garments.
- Helps the poor.
- Watches over her household.
- Speaks wisdom.
- Teaches kindness.
- Fears the LORD.
- And somehow seems to accomplish everything.
And if we're honest…
Sometimes we read Proverbs 31 and think:
“How am I ever going to become THAT woman?”
But Proverbs doesn't introduce her as a woman who never struggles.
It introduces her as a woman whose character has substance.
“Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.”
— Proverbs 31:10
Her value isn't presented as something she earns by exhausting herself.
Her value is precious.
Her life has purpose.
Her work has meaning.
Her words matter.
Her compassion matters.
Her wisdom matters.
Her relationship with God matters.
And her strength isn't merely about how much she can accomplish.
THE PROVERBS 31 WOMAN IS NOT A CHECKLIST.
She is a picture of godly character.
That's an important distinction.
Because if Proverbs 31 becomes nothing more than a checklist, we can turn something beautiful into another source of pressure.
Wake up earlier.
Cook more.
Work harder.
Organize better.
Earn more.
Give more.
Do more.
Serve more.
Smile more.
Pray more.
And suddenly we're exhausted while trying to prove that we're godly.
But Yeshua reminds us that God looks deeper than outward performance.
He said:
“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
— Matthew 6:21
The heart matters.
That's why this devotional isn't simply about doing more.
It's about allowing God to work on the woman within you.
WHAT IF GODLY WOMANHOOD IS NOT ABOUT PERFECTION?
What if it's about formation?
What if God is developing something in you that can't be measured by a perfectly clean house, a successful career, a picture-perfect family, or a social-media-worthy life?
What if He's developing:
Wisdom.
Patience.
Humility.
Courage.
Discernment.
Compassion.
Self-control.
Faithfulness.
Kindness.
Integrity.
These qualities may not always receive applause.
But Heaven sees them.
SOMETIMES THE MOST SPIRITUAL THING I CAN SAY IS…
“Please help me.”
That sentence used to feel uncomfortable to me.
Maybe you've felt it too.
We can become so accustomed to being dependable that we don't know how to be dependent.
Everyone comes to us.
Everyone needs something.
Everyone asks questions.
Everyone needs encouragement.
Everyone needs prayer.
Everyone expects us to keep moving.
And then one day we realize:
We're pouring from a cup we haven't allowed God to refill.
So we keep going.
Until we can't.
But asking for help isn't necessarily weakness.
Humility recognizes limitations.
Wisdom recognizes when support is needed.
And Scripture repeatedly shows us that people were never designed to live as though they needed nobody.
GODLY WOMEN NEED COMMUNITY TOO.
The Old Testament gives us beautiful examples of women whose stories involved courage, wisdom, hardship, obedience, and relationships.
Think about Ruth.
She stepped into an uncertain future.
She didn't know everything that would happen next.
But she walked faithfully.
Think about Esther.
She faced an extraordinary moment of responsibility.
She didn't pretend the situation wasn't frightening.
She sought preparation and support before stepping forward.
Think about Hannah.
She brought the deepest pain of her heart before Hashem.
She prayed.
She wept.
She poured out her soul.
And God met her there.
These women weren't powerful because they pretended they didn't need anything.
Their stories remind us that faith can coexist with vulnerability.
AND THAT MATTERS IN REAL LIFE.
Because maybe you're a woman who is tired.
Maybe you're caring for everyone else.
Maybe you're navigating motherhood.
Maybe you're building a business.
Maybe you're serving in ministry.
Maybe you're caring for aging parents.
Maybe you're trying to rebuild after disappointment.
Maybe you're walking through a difficult season nobody knows about.
Maybe you're simply trying to become more intentional in your relationship with God.
And perhaps you've quietly wondered:
“Am I doing enough?”
“Am I enough?”
“What does biblical womanhood actually look like in ordinary life?”
“How do I become a woman of wisdom without becoming overwhelmed by unrealistic expectations?”
“How do I cultivate a godly home while still remembering that I am a whole person?”
“How do I become stronger without becoming harder?”
These are the kinds of questions that deserve more than clichés.
They deserve Scripture.
They deserve reflection.
They deserve honesty.
They deserve time.
THAT IS WHY I CREATED THIS 30-DAY JOURNEY.
30 Day Proverbs 31 Devotional — A Journey Into Godly Womanhood was created to help you slow down and intentionally examine what biblical womanhood can look like in everyday life.
Not theoretical womanhood.
Real womanhood.
The kind that happens:
- Before the coffee is finished.
- During difficult conversations.
- When you're disappointed.
- When you're overwhelmed.
- When nobody notices your sacrifice.
- When you need wisdom.
- When you need courage.
- When you need to forgive.
- When you need boundaries.
- When you need to begin again.
- When you need to ask for help.
Because spiritual growth doesn't only happen during peaceful mornings with everything perfectly arranged.
Sometimes spiritual growth happens in the middle of the mess.
“SHE OPENETH HER MOUTH WITH WISDOM…”
That verse has stayed with me.
“She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.”
— Proverbs 31:26
Notice the combination:
Wisdom.
Kindness.
What a powerful pairing.
Because wisdom without kindness can become harshness.
And kindness without wisdom can become a lack of discernment.
But the Proverbs 31 woman demonstrates both.
She knows how to speak.
She knows that words carry weight.
She doesn't simply react to everything she feels.
She cultivates wisdom.
And she understands that how she speaks matters.
WHAT IF YOUR WORDS COULD CHANGE THE ATMOSPHERE OF YOUR HOME?
Not because you're responsible for controlling everyone.
But because your words have influence.
One gentle response can prevent an argument from escalating.
One truthful conversation can restore clarity.
One encouraging sentence can strengthen someone who is discouraged.
One prayer can shift your own heart before you respond.
One moment of silence can keep you from saying something you'll regret.
And sometimes the most powerful words are:
“I was wrong.”
“Please forgive me.”
“I need help.”
“Let's pray about this.”
“I don't have the answer yet.”
“I love you.”
“Let's try again.”
That's not weakness.
That's maturity.
THE WORLD OFTEN TELLS WOMEN TO PROVE THEMSELVES.
Scripture invites us into something deeper.
Yeshua said:
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
— Matthew 11:28
Rest.
What a beautiful word.
Especially for women who have spent years believing they have to hold everything together.
Yeshua doesn't say:
“Come to Me once you have fixed everything.”
He doesn't say:
“Come when you are impressive.”
He says:
Come.
Bring the burden.
Bring the weariness.
Bring the questions.
Bring the tears.
Bring the uncertainty.
Bring the need.
A GODLY WOMAN CAN BE TIRED.
She can have questions.
She can need counsel.
She can need encouragement.
She can have a hard day.
She can cry.
She can start over.
She can repent.
She can learn.
She can grow.
She can say no.
She can establish wise boundaries.
She can ask for assistance.
She can receive.
She can rest.
And none of those things automatically make her less godly.
In fact, sometimes acknowledging our limitations creates room for humility.
THE REAL QUESTION ISN'T:
“Can I do everything?”
The better question may be:
“Am I allowing God to teach me how to live wisely?”
Proverbs says:
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.”
— Proverbs 9:10
Biblical wisdom begins with God.
Not Instagram.
Not comparison.
Not cultural pressure.
Not somebody else's timeline.
Not perfectionism.
God.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO BECOME SOMEONE ELSE'S VERSION OF A GODLY WOMAN.
You don't need to copy another woman's life.
You don't need her personality.
You don't need her calling.
You don't need her family.
You don't need her schedule.
You don't need her platform.
You don't need her accomplishments.
You need to faithfully walk with Hashem in your life.
The Proverbs 31 woman isn't an invitation to comparison.
She's an invitation to character.
AND THAT IS WHERE THE JOURNEY GETS PERSONAL.
For 30 days, I want to invite you to slow down.
To open Scripture.
To reflect.
To pray.
To examine your heart.
To ask difficult questions.
To celebrate growth.
To recognize areas that need surrender.
To discover what godly womanhood can look like beyond religious performance.
This isn't about rushing through another devotional so you can check something off your list.
It's about creating space.
Space to listen.
Space to reflect.
Space to grow.
30 DAYS.
30 OPPORTUNITIES TO PAUSE.
30 opportunities to examine your heart.
30 opportunities to return to Scripture.
30 opportunities to consider what wisdom looks like in your circumstances.
30 opportunities to pray intentionally.
30 opportunities to become more aware of God's work in you.
And perhaps…
30 opportunities to discover that becoming a godly woman isn't about becoming flawless.
It's about becoming faithful.
WHAT YOU MAY FIND YOURSELF CONFRONTING
During a journey like this, you may discover uncomfortable things.
Maybe you've been comparing yourself to other women.
Maybe you've been trying to earn approval.
Maybe you've confused busyness with fruitfulness.
Maybe you've been giving constantly without learning how to receive.
Maybe you've been afraid to establish boundaries.
Maybe you've been silent when you needed to speak.
Maybe you've spoken when wisdom called for silence.
Maybe you've been carrying responsibilities that were never yours.
Maybe you've forgotten that your identity isn't determined by productivity.
And maybe…
you've forgotten how deeply God cares about your heart.
That's why reflection matters.
“SHE LOOKETH WELL TO THE WAYS OF HER HOUSEHOLD…”
Proverbs 31 says:
“She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.”
— Proverbs 31:27
This isn't merely about housekeeping.
It's about attentiveness.
She pays attention.
She notices.
She takes responsibility.
She is intentional.
And that principle can make us ask:
What am I paying attention to?
What am I allowing into my home?
What am I allowing to shape my thinking?
What conversations am I cultivating?
What habits am I developing?
What am I teaching by example?
What am I ignoring because it's uncomfortable?
What needs prayer?
What needs correction?
What needs compassion?
What needs to be released?
These are powerful questions.
BECAUSE YOUR LIFE IS TEACHING SOMETHING.
Even when you aren't standing behind a pulpit.
Even when nobody is watching.
Even when you aren't posting about it.
Your responses teach.
Your priorities teach.
Your treatment of people teaches.
Your honesty teaches.
Your repentance teaches.
Your patience teaches.
Your relationship with God teaches.
And sometimes…
your willingness to ask for help teaches too.
It teaches the people around you that strength and humility can exist together.
Yeshua ALSO TAUGHT US SOMETHING ABOUT WHAT GOD SEES.
In Matthew 6:4, Yeshua speaks about the Father who sees what is done in secret.
That means the unseen matters.
The prayer nobody heard matters.
The kindness nobody applauded matters.
The sacrifice nobody recognized matters.
The private battle where you chose obedience matters.
The moment you chose forgiveness matters.
The morning you got back into Scripture after a difficult season matters.
The quiet decision to speak with kindness matters.
God sees what people don't.
SO IF YOU'RE TIRED OF PERFORMING…
Come back to relationship.
If you're tired of comparison…
Come back to identity.
If you're overwhelmed by expectations…
Come back to Scripture.
If you're afraid you're falling short…
Come back to God's presence.
If you've been trying to do everything alone…
Ask for help.
And then keep walking.
THIS DEVOTIONAL IS FOR THE WOMAN WHO IS STILL BECOMING.
The woman who loves God but knows she has growing to do.
The woman who wants deeper biblical wisdom.
The woman who wants to understand Proverbs 31 beyond surface-level interpretations.
The woman who wants to build godly character in ordinary circumstances.
The woman who wants to become more intentional with her words.
The woman who wants to cultivate wisdom.
The woman who wants to grow in courage.
The woman who wants to examine her priorities.
The woman who wants to nurture her home without losing herself in constant striving.
The woman who has been strong for everyone else and needs permission to acknowledge that she needs support too.
The woman who is beginning again.
This journey is for you.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE IT ALL FIGURED OUT.
You don't need tomorrow's strength today.
You don't need next year's wisdom today.
You don't need to know every step.
You can take one day.
One Scripture.
One prayer.
One reflection.
One obedient decision.
One conversation.
One act of kindness.
One step forward.
Then another.
And another.
“TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL THINE HEART…”
Proverbs gives us this beautiful reminder:
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
— Proverbs 3:5
Sometimes we think trust means knowing exactly what God is doing.
It doesn't.
Sometimes trust means admitting:
“I don't understand this yet.”
And continuing to walk faithfully anyway.
WHAT IF THE NEXT 30 DAYS COULD CHANGE THE WAY YOU SEE YOURSELF?
Not because a devotional magically changes your life.
But because intentional time in Scripture can create space for reflection.
Space for prayer.
Space for conviction.
Space for encouragement.
Space for renewed perspective.
And perhaps you'll begin to see Proverbs 31 differently.
Not as a woman standing impossibly far away from you.
But as a biblical portrait inviting you to pursue:
wisdom over comparison.
character over image.
faithfulness over perfection.
kindness over harshness.
courage over fear.
purpose over pressure.
God over performance.
AND MAYBE YOUR NEXT STEP IS VERY SIMPLE.
Open the devotional.
Pick up your Bible.
Set aside a few minutes.
Take a breath.
Begin Day One.
Don't worry about becoming everything overnight.
Just begin.
Because a journey of 30 days doesn't begin with having everything together.
It begins with one decision:
“I'm willing to grow.”
IF YOU'VE BEEN ASKING, “HOW DO I BECOME A GODLY WOMAN?”
Start here.
Start with Scripture.
Start with prayer.
Start with honesty.
Start with humility.
Start with wisdom.
Start with the fear of the LORD.
Start with the heart.
And let the transformation work outward.
30 DAY PROVERBS 31 DEVOTIONAL
A Journey Into Godly Womanhood
This devotional is an invitation to step away from the noise and spend intentional time exploring biblical principles of godly womanhood.
For 30 days, let's journey together.
Let's talk about the things women don't always say out loud.
Let's examine the difference between biblical strength and unhealthy striving.
Let's reflect on wisdom, character, diligence, compassion, courage, responsibility, kindness, faith, and purpose.
Let's make room for the woman behind the responsibilities.
Let's remember that God cares not only about what our hands accomplish…
but about what is happening in our hearts.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO CARRY EVERYTHING ALONE.
Sometimes being a godly woman looks like serving.
Sometimes it looks like leading.
Sometimes it looks like working.
Sometimes it looks like speaking truth.
Sometimes it looks like showing compassion.
Sometimes it looks like standing courageously.
Sometimes it looks like forgiving.
Sometimes it looks like resting.
And sometimes…
sometimes being a godly woman looks like asking for help.
That doesn't erase your strength.
It can be an expression of humility.
So if you've been waiting for the “perfect” time to begin growing deeper in biblical womanhood…
this is your invitation.
