Shemini Atzeret Prayer | Prayer For Shemini Atzeret, The Eighth Day Assembly

Shemini Atzeret Prayer | Prayer For Shemini Atzeret, The Eighth Day Assembly

Prayer for Shemini Atzeret: Remaining in HaShem’s Presence

Avinu Malkeinu, my Father and my King,

As the seven days of Sukkot come to their close, I rejoice that You, HaShem, have called for an eighth day of assembly, Shemini Atzeret, to linger in Your presence. “On the eighth day you shall hold a sacred assembly and present a food offering to the LORD. It is the closing special assembly; do no regular work” (Leviticus 23:36).

Abba, I thank You that You desire Your people not to rush away, but to remain, to pause, to delight in You. Just as a loving Father holds His children close, You draw me near. Let my heart not leave Your presence, for You alone are my dwelling place.

Father, I ask that You be glorified in this day of assembly. As Yeshua prayed: “Father, glorify Your Name!” Then a voice came from heaven, ‘I have glorified it, and will glorify it again’” (John 12:28). May Your Name be exalted in Israel, in the nations, and in my life. Let Shemini Atzeret be not only a closing, but a beginning — a deeper walk in Your presence and a greater witness of Your Kingdom.

HaShem, cover me in the shield of Yeshua’s blood, that I may stand before You cleansed, restored, and protected. Let the fire of God surround me, as it is written: “For I, declares the LORD, will be a wall of fire around her, and I will be the glory within her” (Zechariah 2:5). Burn away impurity, and let Your holy fire ignite joy, holiness, and boldness to proclaim Your truth.

Messiah Yeshua, You declared: “If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to My Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be My disciples” (John 15:7–8). On this Shemini Atzeret, I choose to remain in You, to linger, to not rush away, but to abide so that my life may bring glory to the Father.

Abba, You spoke through the prophet: “Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion, for behold, I come and I will dwell in your midst, declares the LORD. And many nations shall join themselves to the LORD in that day, and shall be My people” (Zechariah 2:10–11). Let this day be a foretaste of that eternal dwelling when Yeshua reigns from Jerusalem and all nations come to bow before You.

I remember the promise: “The LORD Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine — the best of meats and the finest of wines. On this mountain He will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples” (Isaiah 25:6–7). Father, may Shemini Atzeret remind me that I await a greater feast, when You will wipe away every tear and swallow up death forever.

Let my life proclaim the Kingdom of God, as Yeshua said: “Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven has come near” (Matthew 4:17). May this eighth day of assembly strengthen me to go forth and declare that Your reign has broken into the world through Messiah. Expand Your Kingdom, Father, until all the earth knows that “The LORD will be King over the whole earth. On that day there will be one LORD, and His Name the only Name” (Zechariah 14:9).

Avinu, as Solomon prayed at the dedication of the Temple: “May your eyes be open toward this temple night and day, this place of which you said, ‘My Name shall be there,’ so that you will hear the prayer your servant prays toward this place” (1 Kings 8:29). So I pray that this Shemini Atzeret would be as a temple in time — a sacred moment of lingering, where my prayers rise before You and Your Spirit rests upon me.

Let the joy of Sukkot overflow into the stillness of this day. Let the intimacy of the sukkah transform into the eternal dwelling of Your Spirit within me. Let the song of Israel resound as David declared: “I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth” (Psalm 34:1).

Abba, glorify Yourself. HaShem, be exalted over Israel. Yeshua, reign in the nations. Fire of God, burn within me. Shield of Yeshua’s blood, cover me. Let Shemini Atzeret seal this season of feasts with Your glory.

I end this prayer in hope and in joy, lingering in Your presence, longing for the day when heaven and earth will tabernacle together forever.

B’shem Yeshua HaMashiach — in the Name of Yeshua the Messiah,

Amen.
