Kosher Air Fryer Fried Chicken Recipe

Ingredients

  • Chicken:

    • 8 kosher chicken drumsticks or thighs

  • Marinade:

    • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

    • ½ teaspoon black pepper

    • ½ teaspoon paprika

    • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

    • ½ teaspoon onion powder

  • Coating:

    • 1 cup all-purpose flour

    • ½ cup cornmeal (optional, for extra crunch)

    • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

    • ½ teaspoon black pepper

    • ½ teaspoon paprika

    • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

    • ½ teaspoon onion powder

    • Cooking spray (or olive oil spray)


Instructions

1. Prepare the Chicken

  1. Rinse and pat dry the chicken pieces.

  2. In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.

  3. Submerge chicken pieces in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, ideally 4-6 hours.

2. Prepare the Coating

  1. In a shallow dish, mix the flour, cornmeal (if using), salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.

  2. Remove each piece of chicken from the marinade, letting excess drip off.

  3. Dredge the chicken in the flour mixture, pressing lightly to adhere evenly.

3. Air Fry the Chicken

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C).

  2. Lightly spray the basket with cooking spray.

  3. Place chicken in a single layer, leaving space between pieces for air circulation.

  4. Spray the tops lightly with cooking spray or olive oil.

  5. Cook 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and coating is golden brown.

4. Rest & Serve

  1. Let chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving to allow juices to redistribute.

  2. Serve hot with your favorite sides.
