Prayer for Someone Terminally Ill — A Cry for Healing and Glory
Avinu Malkeinu, my heart rises to You with longing, awe, and fierce hope! I come before You with trembling expectation, knowing You are near to the brokenhearted and mighty to save. Hashem, You are the One who spoke the heavens into being, the One who knit every cell, every breath, every heartbeat. I lift up this beloved person who now faces terminal illness, and with all the strength in my soul, I ask You to reveal Your glory and expand Your Kingdom through Yeshua, the Messiah of Israel.
Father, I feel the weight of this suffering, yet I refuse to bow before despair. I cling to Your promises—ancient, unshakable, eternal. As it is written, “For I am the Lord who heals you” (Exodus 15:26). And again, “Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved, for You are my praise” (Jeremiah 17:14). Oh Hashem, let these words blaze like fire in my spirit as I intercede now!
With boldness, I cover this beloved soul under the shield of Yeshua’s blood, the atonement that speaks mercy louder than any diagnosis. I place them beneath the covenant protection that Yeshua sealed when He said, “According to your faith be it unto you” (Matthew 9:29), and “Do not be afraid; only believe” (Mark 5:36). Father, I choose to believe—not because healing is guaranteed in this fallen world, but because Your compassion is real, Your power is unmatched, and Your glory shines brightest in impossible places.
Let the fire of God surround this person now—Your purifying, healing, life-giving fire! May it burn away fear, pain, and every spiritual darkness that tries to smother hope. As the Psalmist declared, “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?” (Psalm 27:1). Let this light invade every shadow around them.
Hashem, I do not only ask for healing of the body—though I cry for that with everything in me—I ask for healing of the spirit, healing of the heart, healing of the memories, healing of the inner world that You alone can see. Let this suffering become a place where Your presence is tangible, overwhelming, and unmistakably holy. Let Your compassion settle over them like dew. Let peace—Your peace, the peace that Yeshua spoke when He said, “My peace I give to you” (John 14:27)—fill every breath.
Oh Father, if it is Your will, stretch out Your mighty hand and reverse what doctors cannot. Shine forth as the God who raised the dead, the One who opened blind eyes, who restored the outcast, who healed with a word, with a touch, even from a distance. Let it be known again in this generation that Your name is powerful, Your love unstoppable, and Your mercy unending.
But even more than the miracle I long for, I ask for Your glory to be seen. Let every nurse, doctor, family member, and friend who witnesses this journey encounter Your light through it. Let Your Kingdom grow because of the faith stirred here, the hope awakened here, the love revealed here. Let people say, “Surely Hashem is in this place!”
And in the depths of my soul, I whisper the words of the Psalmist:
“Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have redeemed me, O Lord God of truth.” (Psalm 31:5)
May this beloved one feel held—completely, tenderly, fiercely—by the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. May Yeshua walk with them step by step, breath by breath, moment by moment. May angels surround them. May heaven draw near.
Father, be glorified. Be glorified in their life, be glorified in their healing, be glorified in their struggle, be glorified in their story. Whether through miraculous restoration or through miraculous peace, let Your Kingdom advance and let Your name be lifted high.
I seal this prayer with hope, with faith, with trembling joy, and with the eternal truth that You are good—unfailingly good.
I end this prayer in Yeshua’s name.
