Overcoming the Spirit of Pride and False Worship - Spiritual Warfare Prayer

Avinu Malkeinu, my Father and my King,

I come before You with reverence, humility, and awe. I come before the throne of the One who created the heavens and stretched them out, who formed the earth and everything upon it, who gives breath to every living creature, and whose glory fills the heavens.

Hashem, You alone are God.

There is none beside You.

There is no power above You, no throne higher than Yours, no kingdom greater than Yours, no name more exalted than Your Name.

I bow my heart before You.

I bow my will before You.

I bow my thoughts before You.

I bow my desires before You.

I bow my ambitions before You.

I bow every place of pride within me before You.

As it is written:

“Hear, O Israel: Hashem our God, Hashem is one.”
— Deuteronomy 6:4

Hashem, I declare that You alone deserve my worship.

I refuse to give to any created thing what belongs exclusively to You. I refuse to elevate human beings, institutions, possessions, achievements, ideologies, ambitions, spiritual experiences, or created powers into places of worship.

I renounce every form of false worship.

I renounce every idol of the heart.

I renounce every high place within my thoughts.

I renounce every spiritual altar that competes with Your authority.

I renounce every agreement with pride that says I can exalt myself without You.

I renounce every deception that causes me to seek glory for myself rather than glory for You.

I renounce every desire to make myself higher while making Your authority smaller in my life.

Hashem, bring me low before You so that You may be exalted.

Your Word says:

“For You are great and do wondrous things; You alone are God.”
— Psalm 86:10

You alone are God.

You alone are worthy.

You alone are holy.

You alone are King.

You alone are Creator.

You alone are the source of life.

You alone are the One to whom I must ultimately answer.

I Humble Myself Before Hashem

Father, I ask You to search me.

Search my heart.

Search my motives.

Search my imagination.

Search my ambitions.

Search my relationships.

Search my possessions.

Search my speech.

Search my private thoughts.

Search every hidden chamber of my heart where pride may have established itself.

David prayed:

“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me, and know my thoughts; and see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
— Psalm 139:23–24

I make that prayer my own.

Search me, Hashem.

If there is pride in me, expose it.

If there is arrogance in me, confront it.

If there is rebellion in me, correct it.

If there is idolatry in me, reveal it.

If there is self-exaltation in me, bring it into the light.

If I have trusted myself more than I have trusted You, forgive me.

If I have glorified myself instead of glorifying You, forgive me.

If I have sought human praise more than Your approval, forgive me.

If I have allowed success to inflate my heart, humble me.

If I have allowed suffering to make me bitter, humble me.

If I have allowed knowledge to make me arrogant, humble me.

If I have allowed spiritual experiences to make me feel superior to others, humble me.

If I have mistaken religious activity for obedience, correct me.

If I have confused spiritual language with genuine holiness, purify me.

I do not want to climb a mountain of pride only to discover that I have climbed away from You.

I do not want to stand upon a high place of my own making.

I want to stand upon the foundation of Your truth.

I Reject the High Place of Pride

Hashem, Your Word repeatedly warns me about high places and false worship.

Your Torah commands:

“You shall surely destroy all the places wherein the nations which you shall dispossess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree.”
— Deuteronomy 12:2

I recognize the biblical warning concerning high places.

I recognize that the physical high place can become a symbol of spiritual rebellion when human beings elevate themselves, their desires, or created powers above You.

Father, I ask You to tear down every spiritual high place that has been erected against Your lordship in my life.

Tear down the altar of self-exaltation.

Tear down the altar of vanity.

Tear down the altar of greed.

Tear down the altar of reputation.

Tear down the altar of human approval.

Tear down the altar of control.

Tear down the altar of fear.

Tear down the altar of superstition.

Tear down the altar of occult curiosity.

Tear down the altar of false worship.

Tear down every structure of thought that tells me I can live independently of You.

Your Word says:

“Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”
— Proverbs 16:18

Therefore, I refuse to nurture pride.

I refuse to protect it.

I refuse to justify it.

I refuse to disguise it as confidence.

I refuse to disguise it as spirituality.

I refuse to disguise it as authority.

I refuse to disguise it as wisdom.

I refuse to disguise it as leadership.

I refuse to disguise it as strength.

Hashem, make me humble before I am humbled by destruction.

I Declare That Hashem Alone Is Worthy

Father, I lift my voice and declare:

Hashem alone is worthy of worship.

Not money.

Not power.

Not status.

Not beauty.

Not fame.

Not political authority.

Not human achievement.

Not technology.

Not possessions.

Not mountains.

Not stars.

Not planets.

Not angels.

Not spirits.

Not ancestors.

Not human leaders.

Not created things.

Nothing created deserves the worship that belongs to the Creator.

Your Word declares:

“For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but Hashem made the heavens.”
— Psalm 96:5

Therefore, I refuse false worship.

I refuse to bow my heart to created things.

I refuse to make anything my ultimate source.

I refuse to make anything my ultimate security.

I refuse to make anything my ultimate identity.

I refuse to make anything my ultimate authority.

I refuse to make anything my ultimate hope.

My hope is in Hashem.

My confidence is in Hashem.

My refuge is in Hashem.

My salvation belongs to Hashem.

My future belongs to Hashem.

My life belongs to Hashem.

My worship belongs to Hashem.

I Take Refuge Under the Shield of Yeshua's Blood

Father, I come before You through Yeshua the Messiah.

I place myself under the protection and mercy I understand through His sacrificial blood.

I remember Yeshua's words concerning His blood:

“For this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”
— Matthew 26:28

Therefore, I ask You to cover me by Your mercy through the blood of Yeshua.

Let the significance of His sacrifice continually remind me that salvation is not an achievement of human pride.

I cannot boast before You.

I cannot purchase Your mercy.

I cannot manufacture holiness.

I cannot save myself through human strength.

I need Your mercy.

I need Your forgiveness.

I need Your cleansing.

I need Your grace.

I need Your truth.

I need Your discipline.

I need Your presence.

I therefore take refuge in what You have provided through Yeshua.

Let His sacrifice destroy every boast within me.

Let the cross remind me that the way upward in Your Kingdom is not self-exaltation but surrender.

Let me remember Yeshua's words:

“Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”
— Matthew 23:12

Father, teach me the humility of Your Messiah.

I Resist False Worship

Hashem, I renounce every form of worship that contradicts Your commandments.

I reject divination.

I reject sorcery.

I reject witchcraft.

I reject consulting spirits.

I reject attempts to manipulate spiritual powers.

I reject the worship of heavenly bodies.

I reject every practice that attempts to replace trust in You with forbidden spiritual knowledge or power.

Your Torah says:

“You shall have no other gods before me.”
— Exodus 20:3

And:

“You shall not bow down to them or serve them.”
— Exodus 20:5

Father, establish this truth deeply within me.

I belong to You.

My worship belongs to You.

My body belongs to You.

My mind belongs to You.

My words belong to You.

My household belongs to You.

My future belongs to You.

My possessions belong to You.

My gifts belong to You.

My abilities belong to You.

My accomplishments belong to You.

Therefore, I will not turn Your blessings into idols.

I Tear Down the Idol of Self

Father, I recognize that an idol does not always appear as a carved image.

Sometimes the idol is myself.

Sometimes the greatest high place is the human ego.

Sometimes the false altar is built inside the heart.

Sometimes I can say Your Name with my lips while secretly worshiping my own importance.

Expose that contradiction in me.

Your prophet warned:

“The pride of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and Hashem alone will be exalted in that day.”
— Isaiah 2:17

Therefore, Hashem, I ask:

Exalt Yourself in me.

Where I have exalted myself, humble me.

Where I have demanded recognition, teach me contentment.

Where I have demanded control, teach me surrender.

Where I have demanded applause, teach me faithfulness.

Where I have demanded to be seen, teach me to serve.

Where I have demanded to be honored, teach me to honor others.

Where I have demanded to be first, teach me humility.

Where I have wanted to build my own tower, teach me to build according to Your will.

I do not want my name to become greater while Your Name becomes smaller.

Let Your Name be sanctified.

I Ask for the Fire of God

Holy Father, let Your holy fire burn away everything in me that does not belong to You.

Your Word says:

“For Hashem your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.”
— Deuteronomy 4:24

I therefore ask You to purify me.

Let Your fire consume pride.

Let Your fire consume arrogance.

Let Your fire consume idolatry.

Let Your fire consume deception.

Let Your fire consume rebellion.

Let Your fire consume hypocrisy.

Let Your fire consume vanity.

Let Your fire consume selfish ambition.

Let Your fire consume every false altar.

Let Your fire purify my motives.

Let Your fire purify my words.

Let Your fire purify my worship.

Let Your fire purify my imagination.

Let Your fire purify my relationships.

Let Your fire purify my household.

Let Your fire purify everything that I surrender to You.

I do not ask for fire merely to destroy.

I ask for holy fire that purifies.

I ask for fire that removes impurity.

I ask for fire that exposes what is false.

I ask for fire that makes my worship sincere.

I ask for fire that makes me useful for Your purposes.

I Stand Against the Pride That Elevates Itself

Father, Your Word declares:

“Hashem opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
— Proverbs 3:34

Therefore, I choose humility.

I humble myself before You.

I surrender my arguments.

I surrender my demands.

I surrender my insistence on being right.

I surrender my need for recognition.

I surrender my need to control every outcome.

I surrender my desire to elevate myself.

I surrender my fear of being overlooked.

I surrender my desire to be praised.

I surrender my desire to be considered important.

I surrender the desire to possess spiritual authority for personal glory.

Let every gift You have given me become an instrument of worship rather than self-exaltation.

Let every blessing become an opportunity for thanksgiving.

Let every achievement become an occasion to glorify You.

Let every position become an opportunity to serve.

Let every increase produce greater humility.

Let every victory produce greater gratitude.

I Remember the Warning of the Mountains

Father, I recognize that mountains themselves are part of Your creation.

They are not gods.

They are not objects of worship.

They do not possess Your glory.

You made them.

The psalmist declares:

“The mountains rose, the valleys sank down, to the place that you appointed for them.”
— Psalm 104:8

Therefore, I will not fear the mountain.

I will not worship the mountain.

I will not attribute divine authority to the mountain.

I will look beyond creation to the Creator.

When I see high peaks, let them remind me of Your greatness rather than human pride.

When I see something towering above me, let it remind me that You are infinitely greater.

When I see something majestic, let me worship the One who created majesty.

When I see human beings building themselves high, let me remember that every human throne remains beneath Your authority.

Your Word declares:

“The heavens are the heavens of Hashem, but the earth he has given to the children of man.”
— Psalm 115:16

Therefore, I refuse to give creation the worship that belongs to You.

I Reject the Tower of Human Pride

Father, I remember Babel.

Human beings attempted to build upward in their own strength and establish a name for themselves.

Your Word says:

“Let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves.”
— Genesis 11:4

Father, deliver me from the desire to "make a name for myself" apart from You.

I do not want to build a personal kingdom that competes with Yours.

I do not want to build an identity that depends upon human applause.

I do not want to construct a spiritual reputation that is more important to me than genuine obedience.

I do not want to become impressive before people while becoming distant from You.

Instead, let my life proclaim:

Hashem is great.

Hashem is holy.

Hashem is worthy.

Hashem is King.

Hashem alone is God.

I Ask for a Humble Heart

Father, give me a heart that trembles at Your Word.

Your prophet declares:

“But this is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word.”
— Isaiah 66:2

Make me that kind of person.

Let me never become so familiar with sacred things that I cease to reverence You.

Let me never become so confident in my knowledge that I stop listening.

Let me never become so convinced of my own righteousness that I stop repenting.

Let me never become so concerned with correcting others that I refuse Your correction of me.

Let me never become so concerned with spiritual warfare that I forget humility.

Let me never become so focused upon darkness that I stop looking toward Your light.

Let me never become obsessed with the enemy.

Let me become obsessed with Your holiness.

Let me seek Your Kingdom.

Let me seek Your righteousness.

Let me seek Your presence.

Let me seek Your truth.

I Remember the Words of Yeshua

Yeshua taught:

“You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.”
— Matthew 4:10

I receive this command into my heart.

I will worship You alone.

I will serve You alone.

I will not divide my ultimate allegiance between You and false gods.

I will not place created things upon Your throne.

I will not allow fear to become my master.

I will not allow money to become my master.

I will not allow reputation to become my master.

I will not allow human approval to become my master.

I will not allow ambition to become my master.

Hashem, You are my God and King.

Yeshua also taught:

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

Teach me poverty of spirit.

Teach me dependence upon You.

Teach me to recognize my need for You.

Teach me to receive rather than boast.

Teach me to kneel rather than exalt myself.

Teach me to forgive rather than retaliate.

Teach me to love rather than compete.

Teach me to obey rather than manipulate.

I Ask You to Break the Power of Pride Over My Life

Father, wherever pride has influenced my decisions, expose it.

Where pride has influenced my relationships, heal them.

Where pride has influenced my speech, discipline my tongue.

Where pride has influenced my worship, purify me.

Where pride has influenced my ambitions, redirect me.

Where pride has influenced my spiritual life, cleanse me.

Where pride has caused me to despise correction, make me teachable.

Where pride has caused me to judge others harshly, give me mercy.

Where pride has caused me to compare myself with others, deliver me from comparison.

Where pride has caused me to crave recognition, give me contentment.

Where pride has caused me to seek power, teach me servant-heartedness.

Your Word says:

“Everyone who is arrogant in heart is an abomination to Hashem; be assured, he will not go unpunished.”

I do not want to walk in arrogance.

I want to walk in reverence.

I want to walk in obedience.

I want to walk in humility.

I want to walk in holiness.

I Ask You to Destroy False Altars

Hashem, if there are false altars in my life, reveal them.

If I have built an altar to money, tear it down.

If I have built an altar to reputation, tear it down.

If I have built an altar to success, tear it down.

If I have built an altar to pleasure, tear it down.

If I have built an altar to control, tear it down.

If I have built an altar to human approval, tear it down.

If I have built an altar to fear, tear it down.

If I have built an altar to self, tear it down.

If I have built an altar to anything created, tear it down.

And after You tear down what is false, establish what is true.

Establish righteousness.

Establish obedience.

Establish truth.

Establish humility.

Establish worship.

Establish faithfulness.

Establish love.

Establish reverence.

Establish Your Word within me.

I Ask for the Kingdom of God to Expand

Father, let Your Kingdom advance through Yeshua.

Let Your Name be glorified.

Let hearts turn away from idols and toward You.

Let those trapped in false worship encounter Your truth.

Let those deceived by pride discover humility.

Let my fear of You become greater than my fear of people.

I Cover My Mind in Truth

Father, guard my mind.

Guard my thoughts.

Guard my imagination.

Guard my dreams.

Guard my desires.

Guard my emotions.

Guard my spiritual discernment.

Do not allow deception to establish a throne in my thinking.

“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.”

Therefore, I set my mind upon You.

When pride speaks, let Your Word answer.

When fear speaks, let Your Word answer.

When temptation speaks, let Your Word answer.

When false worship calls, let Your Word answer.

When self-exaltation calls, let humility answer.

When the desire for recognition calls, let obedience answer.

When the desire for control calls, let surrender answer.

I Ask for Discernment

Father, give me discernment to recognize the difference between genuine worship and counterfeit spirituality.

Let me not be impressed merely by supernatural claims.

Let me not confuse power with holiness.

Let me not confuse spiritual experiences with truth.

Let me not confuse confidence with righteousness.

Let me not confuse religious activity with obedience.

Let me not confuse charisma with character.

Let me not confuse elevation with Your blessing.

Let me test everything by Your revealed truth.

Your Word says:

“To the teaching and to the testimony! If they will not speak according to this word, it is because they have no dawn.”

Therefore, anchor me in Your Word.

I Ask for Protection From Deception

Yeshua warned:

Father, protect me from deception.

Protect me from false prophets.

Protect me from counterfeit worship.

Protect me from spiritual manipulation.

Protect me from pride disguised as revelation.

Protect me from superstition disguised as faith.

Protect me from anything that causes me to depart from You.

Give me a humble and teachable heart.

Father, I surrender myself to You.

Therefore, I refuse to steal glory that belongs to You.

Every gift I possess came from You.

Every good thing I have received is ultimately dependent upon You.

I will not make myself the center of my spiritual life.

I will not worship myself.

I will not trust myself more than I trust Hashem.

I will not elevate my opinions above Your Word.

I will not place my desires above Your commandments.

I will not make my emotions my god.

I will not make my experiences my god.

I will not make my achievements my god.

I will not make another person my god.

Hashem alone is God.

I Ask for a Spirit of Servanthood

Yeshua said:

“Whoever would be great among you must be your servant.”
— Matthew 20:26

Father, make me a servant.

Let me serve without needing applause.

Let me give without demanding recognition.

Let me love without demanding repayment.

Let me obey without demanding explanation.

Let me forgive without demanding revenge.

Let me humble myself without feeling diminished.

Let me recognize that true greatness in Your Kingdom is not measured by how high I can climb, but by how faithfully I serve.

Let me never use spiritual authority to exalt myself.

Let me never use knowledge to humiliate another person.

Let me never use Scripture as a weapon of pride.

Let me use Your truth to bring people toward repentance, healing, righteousness, and reconciliation.

I Ask for Victory Through Yeshua

Father, I look to Yeshua the Messiah.

He resisted temptation by standing upon the Word of God.

When the tempter sought worship, Yeshua answered:

“You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.”
— Matthew 4:10

I make that declaration my own.

I will worship Hashem alone.

I will serve Hashem alone.

I will trust Hashem alone.

I will seek Hashem alone.

I will glorify Hashem alone.

And I will follow Yeshua in humility, obedience, truth, and righteousness.

A Final Declaration of Surrender

Hashem, my Father and my King,

I bow before You.

I surrender my pride.

I surrender my false altars.

I surrender my self-exaltation.

I surrender my desire for recognition.

I surrender my need for control.

I surrender every idol.

I surrender every counterfeit.

I surrender every false source of security.

I surrender every ambition that competes with Your Kingdom.

I surrender every high place within my heart.

Tear down what must be torn down.

Burn what must be burned.

Cleanse what must be cleansed.

Heal what must be healed.

Restore what must be restored.

Establish what must be established.

And above everything else:

Be glorified.

Let Your Name be exalted.

Let Your Kingdom expand.

Let Your truth prevail.

Let righteousness increase.

Let false worship decrease.

Let pride bow down.

Let humility rise.

Let hearts return to You.

Let families seek You.

Let communities seek You.

Let nations seek You.

Let the knowledge of Your glory fill the earth.

As Your prophet declares:

Father, let my life participate in that testimony.

Let me become a vessel through which Your Name is honored.

Let me never take Your glory for myself.

Let me never build a throne for myself.

Let me never construct an altar for myself.

Let me never stand upon a mountain of pride and call it worship.

Instead, let me bow low before You.

Let me worship You.

Let me serve You.

Let me proclaim Your goodness.

Let me walk humbly before You.

As Micah declares:

“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does Hashem require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”

So I choose to walk humbly with You.

I choose to reject pride.

I choose to reject false worship.

I choose to reject every spiritual high place that competes with Your lordship.

I choose to worship You alone.

I place myself beneath the authority of Your Word.

I take refuge in Your mercy.

I look to Yeshua the Messiah.

I trust in the significance of His shed blood.

I ask for the cleansing fire of God to purify me.

I ask for Your Kingdom to advance.
