Episode Nine | The Blade And The Cry | The Occult’s Bride | Chosen Against My Will | Short Mystery Story

The black blade arced through the air. Time slowed. Every heartbeat thundered in my ears as though the world itself had stopped.

I clutched my stomach, my child trembling inside me like a tiny drum of life against the darkness.

The stranger leapt forward, shielding me, his eyes blazing with unearthly fire. “By the Name of Yeshua!” he shouted, and the words rang out like a trumpet.

> “Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy.” (Luke 10:19)

The blade struck the floor at my feet, splintering the wood, sending shards flying. The black flames hissed and recoiled as if struck by invisible lightning.

The leader screamed in rage. “No! She is ours!”

The Cry of the Innocent

In that instant, a sharp cry erupted from within me—the voice of the child, though unborn. A pure, piercing sound that filled the room, cutting through the chanting and the roar of flames.

The robed men staggered backward, clutching their ears as though the sound had burned them.

The stranger’s eyes widened. “Do you hear it?” he asked. “The covenant cannot bind what Heaven has called. The child speaks with the voice of the Most High.”

I fell to my knees, sobbing, and whispered the words of David:

> “Out of the mouth of babes and infants, You have established strength because of Your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger.” (Psalm 8:2)

The power of that cry—the innocence, the pure life within me—pushed back the darkness.

The Leader’s Fury

The leader roared, swinging the black torch high. The fire flared, licking the walls, but the stranger raised his hands, and a shield of light rippled outward.

> “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1)

The chanters fell to their knees, blinded by the radiant power, their weapons falling from their hands.

The leader screamed in frustration, his face contorting. “This cannot be! The covenant is eternal! You cannot resist!”

The stranger stepped closer to me, his voice low, urgent: “The covenant is eternal for them, but not for those called by the Almighty. Stand now. Declare your allegiance. Speak His Name.”

The Declaration of Faith

I swallowed my fear, my voice trembling but growing stronger with every word:

“Yeshua HaMashiach is my Lord! My child belongs to Him! No power of darkness shall claim us! By His Name, I am free! By His Name, my child is consecrated to the Most High!”

A blinding light erupted from my lips as I spoke, a radiance that filled the room. The black flames screamed and vanished. The robed men fell backward, writhing, blinded and broken.

The leader screamed one last time, his body convulsing as if the very fire he commanded had turned against him. Then, with a sound like shattering glass, he vanished—swallowed by the darkness he had tried to command.

The Aftermath

The stranger caught me as I sank to my knees, tears streaming. “It is done—for now,” he said. “But mark my words: the darkness will not forget. You have declared the covenant of light, but they will seek another way.”

I held my stomach, feeling the life inside me, a miracle that had spoken with the power of God.

> “For You formed my inward parts; You knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:13–14)

The woman’s parchment still lay burned on the floor, a reminder that prophecy was not a chain, but a warning.

The stranger turned to leave, but paused. His eyes softened. “Prepare yourself. The war is far from over. But tonight… tonight, the light has won.”

As he disappeared into the shadows, I whispered with trembling hope:

> “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.” (Psalm 23:1–3)

And for the first time since this nightmare began, I believed it.

But even as the night fell silent, I could feel it—the faintest pulse of shadow beyond the walls, waiting… watching… biding its time.
