Closing Prayer For Yom Kippur | The Day of Atonement
This prayer magnifies HaShem, centers on His glory, invokes the shield of Yeshua’s blood, the fire of God, and prays for His Kingdom to expand through Yeshua. All Scriptures are strictly from the Tanakh (Old Testament) and the Gospels.
Closing Prayer of Surrender and Hope for Yom Kippur
Avinu Malkeinu, my Father and my King,
As this Yom Kippur comes to its close, I lift my heart and voice before Your throne of mercy. HaShem, You are exalted above the heavens, and Your glory is above all the earth. You are the Righteous Judge, yet You are also merciful and compassionate, abounding in steadfast love.
Today, I have fasted, prayed, and humbled myself, yet I know that no act of mine is enough to wash away my sin. As the prophet declared: “All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6). Therefore, I take refuge under the shield of Yeshua’s blood — the perfect atonement that cleanses me and covers me. “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29).
Father, I confess that I have sinned, but I trust in the One who has borne my iniquities. As it is written: “He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5). Yeshua, I thank You for being my covering, my mediator, and my eternal High Priest in the heavens.
Abba, let the fire of God fall upon me as this holy day ends. Purify me with Your fire, refine me as silver, and burn away every impurity of heart. “I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on My Name and I will answer them. I will say, ‘They are My people,’ and they will say, ‘The LORD is our God’” (Zechariah 13:9). Father, I want to leave this day not unchanged, but transformed — walking in holiness and filled with Your Spirit.
Yeshua said: “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” (Matthew 5:8). Father, purify my heart by the fire of Your Spirit, that I may see You and glorify Your holy Name in everything I do.
As the gates of Yom Kippur symbolically begin to close, I remember that one day the heavens will open and the Son of Man will return in glory. “They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather His elect” (Matthew 24:30–31). Father, prepare me and Your people for that great and awesome day. Let my life testify of Yeshua, so that others may be gathered into Your Kingdom.
HaShem, glorify Yourself in Israel. You have promised: “I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on Me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for Him as one mourns for an only child” (Zechariah 12:10). May that day come quickly, when all Israel will see Yeshua and recognize Him as Messiah.
Glorify Yourself also in the nations, Father. Yeshua said: “This gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:14). Let the fire of God spread like wildfire across the earth. Let the shield of Yeshua’s blood protect Your people in every land. Let the glory of HaShem cover the nations as the waters cover the sea (Habakkuk 2:14).
Now, Abba, as this Yom Kippur ends, I ask You to seal my prayers, my repentance, and my devotion before You. Let this year be a year of Your glory revealed, Your Kingdom expanded, and Your Name magnified.
I join my voice with Yeshua’s prayer: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:9–10).
Father, let Your will be done in me. Let Your will be done in Israel. Let Your will be done in the nations. Be glorified in heaven and earth, forever and ever.
B’shem Yeshua HaMashiach — in the holy Name of Yeshua the Messiah,
Amen.
