Crockpot Sweet Tzimmes With Honey And Prunes | Kosher Healing Recipe | Rosh Hashanah Recipe

Cooking Vessel: 6–8 quart slow cooker (crockpot)


Ingredients

  • 3 large carrots, peeled and cut into 1-inch chunks

  • 3 sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed

  • 2 large parsnips, peeled and chopped (optional)

  • 1 cup pitted prunes

  • ½ cup dried apricots

  • ½ cup golden raisins

  • ½ cup honey

  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar (optional, for extra sweetness)

  • 2 Tbsp olive oil or margarine (for richness)

  • 1 cup orange juice (fresh preferred)

  • ½ cup water or vegetable stock

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • ½ tsp nutmeg

  • ½ tsp ground ginger

  • 1 tsp kosher salt

  • Zest of 1 orange

  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice (balances sweetness)


Instructions

  1. Prep base: Place carrots, sweet potatoes, and parsnips in crockpot.

  2. Add fruit: Scatter prunes, apricots, and raisins
