Shema Prayer Liturgical Recitation
Here is the Shema Prayer in a continuous flowing layout, written so it reads as one seamless liturgical recitation:
(Shema Yisrael, Adonai Eloheinu, Adonai Echad) — Hear, O Israel: the Lord is our God, the Lord is One.
(Baruch shem k’vod malchuto l’olam va’ed) — Blessed is the name of His glorious kingdom forever and ever.
וְאָהַבְתָּ אֵת ה׳ אֱלֹהֶיךָ בְּכָל לְבָבְךָ וּבְכָל נַפְשְׁךָ וּבְכָל מְאֹדֶךָ׃ (Ve’ahavta et Adonai Elohecha b’chol levavcha u’v’chol nafshecha u’v’chol me’odecha) — You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
(V’hayu had’varim ha’eleh asher anochi m’tzav’cha hayom al levavecha) — These words that I command you today shall be upon your heart.
וְשִׁנַּנְתָּם לְבָנֶיךָ וְדִבַּרְתָּ בָּם בְּשִׁבְתְּךָ בְּבֵיתֶךָ וּבְלֶכְתְּךָ בַדֶּרֶךְ וּבְשָׁכְבְּךָ וּבְקוּמֶךָ׃ (V’shinantam l’vanecha v’dibarta bam b’shivtecha b’veitecha u’v’lecht’cha vaderech u’v’shochb’cha u’v’kumecha) — Teach them diligently to your children; speak of them when you sit in your home, when you walk along the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
(U’kshartam l’ot al yadecha v’hayu l’totafot bein einecha) — Bind them as a sign upon your hand, and let them be frontlets between your eyes.
(Uchtavtam al mezuzot beitecha u’vish’arecha) — Write them upon the doorposts of your house and upon your gates.
(Vehaya im shamoa tishme’u el mitzvotai asher anochi metzaveh etchem hayom) — And it shall be, if you diligently obey My commandments that I command you today…
To love the Lord your God and serve Him with all your heart and all your soul.
— Then I will give rain for your land in its season, the early and late rains… and you will gather your grain, wine, and oil.
— Take care lest your heart be deceived and you turn away and serve other gods.
(Vayomer Adonai el Moshe lemor) — The Lord said to Moses, saying:
(Daber el Bnei Yisrael v’amarta alehem v’asu lahem tzitzit al kanfei vigdeihem) — Speak to the children of Israel and tell them to make fringes on the corners of their garments…
— And it shall be for you as tzitzit, and you shall look upon it and remember all the commandments of the Lord and do them…
So that you may remember and perform all My commandments and be holy unto your God.
— I am the Lord your God…
