Best Recipe For The Most Amazing Classic Chocolate Cake (Kosher & Healing)

This rich and moist classic chocolate cake is not only a treat for the taste buds—it’s a healing dessert for the soul. Using kosher-approved ingredients, natural sweeteners, and healing elements like raw cacao, olive oil, and honey, this recipe nourishes the body while delighting the senses.

Why It’s Healing

Cacao (or unsweetened cocoa powder): Packed with magnesium and antioxidants that help reduce stress and boost mood.

Olive oil: A heart-healthy fat that supports digestion and inflammation balance.

Honey: Natural antibacterial properties and an energy booster.

Almond milk (or oat milk): Dairy-free option that’s gentle on digestion while keeping the cake rich and moist.

Ingredients (Makes one 9-inch cake)

✨ All ingredients should be kosher certified

1 ½ cups unbleached flour (or spelt flour for added nutrients)

¾ cup raw cacao powder (or unsweetened cocoa powder)

1 ½ tsp baking powder

1 ½ tsp baking soda

½ tsp fine sea salt

1 cup coconut sugar (or organic cane sugar)

½ cup pure honey

2 large eggs (or flax eggs for plant-based)

½ cup extra virgin olive oil (or avocado oil)

1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or oat milk)

1 tsp apple cider vinegar

2 tsp pure vanilla extract

½ cup boiling water or hot brewed coffee (enhances chocolate flavor)

Optional Healing Chocolate Frosting

1 cup dark chocolate chips (kosher pareve or dairy, depending on preference)

½ cup full-fat coconut milk

2 tbsp honey or maple syrup

1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions

Step 1 – Prep

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan and line with parchment paper.

Step 2 – Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cacao powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Step 3 – Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together sugar, honey, eggs, olive oil, almond milk, vinegar, and vanilla. Mix until smooth and slightly frothy.

Step 4 – Combine

Slowly add the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Pour in hot water (or coffee) and mix until the batter is smooth and glossy. The batter will be thin—this is perfect.

Step 5 – Bake

Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool completely before frosting.

Step 6 – Frost (Optional)

Heat coconut milk until hot but not boiling. Pour over chocolate chips and stir until melted. Add honey and vanilla. Spread over cooled cake for a silky, healing finish.

Serving Suggestion

Enjoy a slice with a warm cup of chamomile or mint tea for extra healing comfort. Perfect for Shabbat dessert, simchas, or simply to lift your spirit after a long day.
