Prayer For Beginning Rosh Hashanah | Yom Teruah, The Feast of Trumpets

This prayer asks for HaShem’s glory, His Kingdom to expand through Yeshua, and includes the shield of Yeshua’s blood, the fire of God, and glorification of the Father. Only Tanakh (Old Testament) and Gospel verses are included.

Prayer of Awakening for Rosh Hashanah

Avinu Malkeinu, my Father and my King,

As the shofar is lifted to the heavens, I bow before You on this holy day of Rosh Hashanah, the Feast of Trumpets. HaShem, You are enthroned above the cherubim, clothed in majesty, and robed in light. The heavens declare Your glory and the earth proclaims Your handiwork. Today, I join creation in lifting up Your Name, that You alone would be magnified.

Father, I ask that this year begin not in my own strength, but in the power of Your Ruach. I plead the shield of Yeshua’s blood over my life, my household, and my community. Just as the blood of the lamb in Egypt shielded our fathers from the destroyer, so now the eternal blood of Yeshua HaMashiach covers me, cleanses me, and protects me. “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29). May His atoning work be my foundation and my confidence as I enter into this new season.

HaShem, let the fire of God fall upon me at the sound of the shofar. As the prophet declared: “Is not My word like fire?” says the LORD, “and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?” (Jeremiah 23:29). Break every hardness in my heart. Burn away every impurity. Ignite within me a holy zeal for Your Name. As Yeshua said, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6). Let me hunger only for You.

Father, this day is called a memorial of the trumpet blast — a remembrance before You. I remember that You are Judge of all the earth, but also merciful and abounding in steadfast love. You said through the prophet: “Return to Me, and I will return to you” (Malachi 3:7). And Yeshua declared: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 4:17). Today, I return to You with all my heart, and I ask that You make me an instrument of return for others — that many would turn from darkness to light, from despair to hope, from sin to salvation in Yeshua.

HaShem, glorify Yourself this year through the work of Your Kingdom. “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea” (Habakkuk 2:14). May the sound of the shofar not only awaken my soul but also echo across the nations, calling people everywhere to acknowledge You. Yeshua said: “This gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:14). Father, let this year hasten that day, when every tongue will confess, and every knee will bow before You.

I lift up Israel, the people of the covenant. Open blind eyes, soften hardened hearts, and let the children of Abraham see the One whom You sent. As it is written: “Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, your King is coming to you, humble, and mounted on a donkey’” (Zechariah 9:9, Matthew 21:5). Father, reveal Yeshua to the sons and daughters of Jacob, that Your promises may be fulfilled, and Your Kingdom fully revealed.

And I lift up the nations, Father, that every tribe and tongue may hear the trumpet of salvation. Yeshua said: “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life” (John 8:12). Let Your light shine forth into every nation, every community, every home. Use me, Father, as a bearer of that light.

On this Rosh Hashanah, let the fire of God burn, the shield of Yeshua’s blood protect, and the glory of HaShem cover the earth. Let this new year be a year of awakening, revival, and the expansion of Your Kingdom through Yeshua HaMashiach.

And so I pray as Yeshua taught: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:9–10).

Abba, be glorified. Magnify Your Name. Reign over Israel. Reign over the nations. Reign over my heart.

B’shem Yeshua HaMashiach — in the holy Name of Yeshua the Messiah,

Amen.
