Overcoming and Conquering the Spirit of Persistent Resistance or Ancient Strongholds - Spiritual Warfare Prayer
Abba, Heavenly Father,
I come before You in humility, reverence, and faith. I come before You as the One who created heaven and earth, the One who established the foundations of the earth, the One whose wisdom is unsearchable and whose power cannot be resisted.
You are Hashem, the Holy One of Israel.
You are my Rock, my Fortress, my Shield, my Deliverer, and my Strong Tower.
As David declared:
“The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;
My God, my rock, in whom I will take refuge;
My shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.”
— Psalm 18:2
Father, I lift my eyes to You. I refuse to make the ancient walls around me greater than the God who created me. I refuse to magnify resistance above Your authority. I refuse to believe that something is permanent simply because it has existed for a long time.
You are the God who makes a way where there appears to be no way.
You are the God who brought Israel through the sea.
You are the God who caused the walls of Jericho to fall.
You are the God who delivered Your people from Pharaoh.
You are the God who brought Your people out of captivity.
You are the God who turns wildernesses into places of provision and makes rivers flow in dry places.
Therefore, I place every persistent resistance and every ancient stronghold before You.
I ask You to be glorified in my life.
I ask You to be glorified in my family.
I ask You to be glorified in every place where resistance has remained for generations.
I ask You to establish Your righteous purposes and cause Your Kingdom to advance through Yeshua the Messiah.
HASHEM, YOU ARE MY FORTRESS
Father, I declare that You are greater than every wall.
You are greater than every pattern.
You are greater than every cycle.
You are greater than every history of failure.
You are greater than every inherited pattern of fear, rebellion, bitterness, confusion, oppression, disobedience, poverty, division, and spiritual stagnation.
I will not worship the past.
I will not bow before history.
I will not treat ancient resistance as though it possesses greater authority than You.
Your Word says:
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”
— Isaiah 55:9
So I surrender my understanding to You.
Where I cannot see, You see.
Where I cannot understand, You understand.
Where I cannot reach, You can reach.
Where I cannot break through, You can make a way.
Where generations before me stopped, You can cause me to move forward according to Your will.
I declare that my confidence is not in human strength.
My confidence is in Hashem.
Zechariah declares:
“Not by might, nor by power, but by My spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.”
— Zechariah 4:6
Therefore, Father, I do not attempt to overcome ancient resistance through pride, anger, manipulation, revenge, or human strength.
I seek You.
I submit myself to You.
I obey Your Word.
I ask You to cleanse my heart, correct my ways, expose what must be exposed, and remove whatever does not belong in my life.
SEARCH ME, O GOD
Father, before I ask You to tear down anything around me, search what is within me.
David prayed:
“Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me, and know my thoughts;
And see if there be any way of pain in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting.”
— Psalm 139:23–24
So I make that prayer my own.
Search me, Hashem.
Reveal hidden motives.
Reveal hidden compromises.
Reveal hidden disobedience.
Reveal unforgiveness.
Reveal pride.
Reveal fear.
Reveal resentment.
Reveal stubbornness.
Reveal every agreement I have made with lies.
Reveal every place where I have trusted myself more than I have trusted You.
Reveal every place where I have permitted bitterness to become a wall around my heart.
Reveal every place where fear has prevented obedience.
Reveal every place where familiarity with an old pattern has caused me to resist the new thing You are doing.
Father, do not merely change my circumstances.
Change me.
Make me teachable.
Make me humble.
Make me obedient.
Make me discerning.
Make me courageous.
Make me faithful.
Create in me a clean heart.
As David prayed:
“Create in me a clean heart, O God;
And renew a stedfast spirit within me.”
— Psalm 51:10
I RENOUNCE AGREEMENT WITH THE OLD PATTERN
Father, I refuse to call bondage normal merely because I have known it for a long time.
I refuse to call defeat destiny.
I refuse to call repeated failure inevitable.
I refuse to call spiritual stagnation permanent.
I refuse to believe that what has resisted change for generations must resist You forever.
I acknowledge that some strongholds are reinforced by human choices, sinful patterns, destructive habits, injustice, fear, unbelief, disobedience, and repeated behaviors.
Therefore, Father, I ask You to give me courage to confront what is actually mine to confront.
Where repentance is necessary, give me repentance.
Where restitution is necessary, give me courage.
Where forgiveness is necessary, give me grace.
Where boundaries are necessary, give me wisdom.
Where obedience is required, give me strength.
Where patience is required, teach me patience.
Where I must wait, teach me to wait.
Where I must move, teach me to move.
Where I must speak, teach me what to say.
Where I must remain silent, teach me restraint.
I remember the words of Yeshua:
“If ye continue in My word, then are ye My disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
— John 8:31–32
Father, lead me into truth.
Let truth dismantle every lie.
Let truth expose every deception.
Let truth correct every distorted belief.
Let truth restore what has been damaged.
Let truth become stronger in me than the voices of my past.
LET EVERY WALL THAT OPPOSES YOUR WILL FALL
Father, I bring before You every ancient wall that has obstructed righteous progress.
Every wall of fear—
Let it fall where You command it to fall.
Every wall of discouragement—
Let it fall.
Every wall of confusion—
Let it fall.
Every wall of division—
Let it fall.
Every wall of bitterness—
Let it fall.
Every wall of generational dysfunction—
Let it fall.
Every wall of destructive repetition—
Let it fall.
Every wall built through disobedience—
Let repentance dismantle it.
Every wall built through deception—
Let Your truth dismantle it.
Every wall built through injustice—
Let Your righteous judgment address it.
Every wall built through hatred—
Let Your mercy and righteousness overcome it.
Every wall built through despair—
Let Your presence bring hope.
Every wall that stands contrary to Your righteous purposes—
Father, deal with it according to Your wisdom.
I remember Jericho.
Israel did not conquer that wall through human ingenuity.
You gave the instruction.
They obeyed.
You brought down what they could not bring down themselves.
Your Word says:
“And the wall fell down flat.”
— Joshua 6:20
Father, teach me the difference between trying to force a door open and obeying You when You tell me to walk through one.
Teach me the difference between striving and faithfulness.
Teach me the difference between fear and wisdom.
Teach me the difference between spiritual warfare and human conflict.
Let me never use the language of spiritual warfare as an excuse for hatred toward people.
Yeshua taught:
“Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.”
— Matthew 5:44
Therefore, I do not ask You to destroy people.
I ask You to destroy whatever is contrary to Your righteousness.
I ask You to heal people.
I ask You to transform hearts.
I ask You to expose deception.
I ask You to establish justice.
I ask You to bring repentance.
I ask You to release captives.
I ask You to bring peace.
I ask You to glorify Your Name.
HASHEM, BE MY SHIELD
Father, surround me with Your protection.
David declared:
“But Thou, O LORD, art a shield about me;
My glory, and the lifter up of mine head.”
— Psalm 3:3
Be my shield.
Be the shield over my mind.
Be the shield over my heart.
Be the shield over my household.
Be the shield over my steps.
Be the shield over my assignments.
Be the shield over the purposes You have entrusted to me.
And, Father, as a Messianic believer, I place my faith in the redemptive work of Yeshua the Messiah.
I ask that the shield of Yeshua's blood represent for me the protection, mercy, covenant hope, and redemption I have received through Messiah.
Let me never treat His blood as a magical formula.
Let me instead remember its holy significance.
Yeshua spoke of His blood in covenant language:
“For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.”
— Matthew 26:28
Father, let the redemption accomplished through Yeshua continually turn my heart toward You.
Let His sacrifice lead me into repentance rather than presumption.
Let His mercy lead me into obedience rather than compromise.
Let His example teach me humility.
Let His words establish truth in me.
Let His resurrection hope strengthen me.
FIRE OF GOD
Holy Father, I ask You to send Your refining fire into every place that requires purification.
Your Word says:
“For He is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap.”
— Malachi 3:2
Father, let Your fire refine me.
Burn away pride.
Burn away deception.
Burn away hatred.
Burn away bitterness.
Burn away spiritual laziness.
Burn away compromise.
Burn away false confidence.
Burn away whatever is preventing me from walking faithfully before You.
Where I have built walls to protect myself from pain, teach me how to receive Your healing.
Where I have built walls against people because of past wounds, teach me righteous boundaries without hatred.
Where I have built walls against correction, make me teachable.
Where I have built walls against hope, restore hope.
Where I have built walls against faith, strengthen my faith.
Let Your fire purify rather than destroy.
Let Your fire illuminate rather than confuse.
Let Your fire consume what is unholy while preserving what You have ordained.
BREAKING THE CYCLE
Father, I bring before You every destructive cycle that has persisted longer than it should have.
Cycles of fear.
Cycles of failure.
Cycles of conflict.
Cycles of abandonment.
Cycles of financial irresponsibility.
Cycles of addiction and destructive behavior.
Cycles of broken relationships.
Cycles of bitterness.
Cycles of spiritual neglect.
Cycles of disobedience.
Cycles of self-sabotage.
Cycles of hopelessness.
Where these cycles exist, show me the practical steps of obedience required to interrupt them.
Give me wisdom to recognize triggers.
Give me courage to make different choices.
Give me humility to seek wise counsel.
Give me perseverance when change takes time.
Give me discernment to recognize unhealthy influences.
Give me strength to say no when I must say no.
Give me courage to say yes when You command me to say yes.
Your Word says:
“A man's goings are established of the LORD;
And he delighteth in his way.”
— Psalm 37:23
Establish my steps, Father.
Do not allow me to walk blindly into the same places that produced yesterday's defeat.
Teach me a new way of walking.
RESISTANCE AGAINST THE PROMISE
Father, whenever persistent resistance appears between me and something You have legitimately instructed me to do, give me discernment.
Do not allow fear to convince me that resistance means I should quit.
Do not allow impatience to convince me that delay means You have abandoned me.
Do not allow discouragement to convince me that obedience is useless.
Joshua was instructed:
“Be strong and of good courage, be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
— Joshua 1:9
So I choose courage.
I choose obedience.
I choose perseverance.
I choose faithfulness.
I choose to trust You even when I cannot yet see the outcome.
Father, teach me to distinguish between a closed door that You have shut and resistance that requires perseverance.
Give me wisdom rather than presumption.
Give me patience rather than panic.
Give me courage rather than fear.
LORD, MAKE A WAY
Father, where there is no visible road, make a road according to Your will.
Your Word declares:
“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”
— Isaiah 43:19
I believe You can create pathways I cannot see.
I believe You can provide opportunities I cannot manufacture.
I believe You can restore what I thought was permanently lost.
I believe You can bring order where there has been chaos.
I believe You can bring reconciliation where reconciliation is righteous and possible.
I believe You can establish me in a new season.
But Father, I surrender the method to You.
I surrender the timing to You.
I surrender the outcome to You.
I do not demand that You accomplish Your purposes according to my preferred strategy.
You are God.
I am not.
Lead me.
ANCIENT STRONGHOLDS IN THE FAMILY
Father, I pray concerning my family.
Where destructive patterns have been repeated across generations, bring light.
Where there has been generational hatred, bring repentance and reconciliation.
Where there has been abandonment, bring healing and responsible restoration where possible.
Where there has been poverty caused by destructive decisions, give wisdom, discipline, diligence, and provision.
Where there has been spiritual confusion, establish truth.
Where there has been idolatry, turn hearts back to You.
Where there has been violence, establish safety and righteousness.
Where there has been bitterness, teach forgiveness.
Where there has been silence surrounding wrongdoing, give courage to confront it wisely.
Where there has been generational fear, teach us to trust You.
Father, I recognize that I cannot control another person's choices.
Therefore, I surrender other people's decisions to You.
I ask You to begin with me.
Let transformation begin in my own heart.
Let obedience begin with me.
Let forgiveness begin with me.
Let humility begin with me.
Let righteousness begin with me.
Let wisdom begin with me.
Let the legacy of faithfulness begin with me.
BREAKING AGREEMENTS WITH FEAR
Father, I reject the rule of fear over my decisions.
You told Israel:
“Fear thou not, for I am with thee;
Be not dismayed, for I am thy God;
I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee;
Yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of My righteousness.”
— Isaiah 41:10
Therefore, I will not allow fear to become my master.
Fear may speak, but fear does not rule me.
Fear may warn me, but fear does not define my destiny.
Fear may reveal something that requires wisdom, but fear does not have the final word.
Hashem has the final word.
Father, strengthen me where I am weak.
Lift me where I have fallen.
Correct me where I have wandered.
Comfort me where I have been wounded.
Teach me where I have been ignorant.
Yeshua, TEACH ME TO PERSEVERE
Yeshua taught:
“Men ought always to pray, and not to faint.”
— Luke 18:1
So I ask You for persevering prayer.
When I pray and nothing appears to change immediately, teach me persistence.
When the wall remains standing, teach me faithfulness.
When circumstances seem unchanged, teach me patience.
When opposition appears repeatedly, teach me wisdom.
When I become weary, renew my strength.
When I am tempted to abandon what is righteous, remind me why I began.
Let me not confuse delayed results with divine absence.
Let me not confuse difficulty with defeat.
Let me not confuse resistance with rejection.
Teach me to remain faithful.
I SEEK FIRST YOUR KINGDOM
Father, I want Your Kingdom to increase through my life.
Yeshua taught:
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
— Matthew 6:33
Therefore, I place Your Kingdom before my personal ambition.
I place righteousness before recognition.
I place obedience before convenience.
I place truth before reputation.
I place faithfulness before applause.
I place Your glory before my own glory.
If You give me influence, let me use it righteously.
If You give me resources, let me steward them faithfully.
If You give me opportunity, let me honor You with it.
If You give me authority, let me exercise it with humility.
If You give me success, let me remember that You are the source of every good thing.
Let everything You establish in my life ultimately point back to You.
FATHER, GLORIFY YOUR NAME
Father, I ask for one thing above all:
Be glorified.
Be glorified in my deliverance.
Be glorified in my healing.
Be glorified in my repentance.
Be glorified in my restoration.
Be glorified in my family.
Be glorified in my work.
Be glorified in my relationships.
Be glorified in my decisions.
Be glorified in my testimony.
Be glorified in every battle.
Be glorified in every breakthrough.
Be glorified even while I wait.
Yeshua prayed:
“Father, glorify Thy name.”

That is my prayer.
Father, glorify Your Name through me.
Let my life become evidence of Your faithfulness.
Let people see Your goodness.
Let people see Your righteousness.
Let people see Your mercy.
Let people see Your transforming power.
Let my testimony never become a monument to myself.
Let it become a testimony to Hashem.
I WILL NOT FEAR THE GIANTS
Father, when I see obstacles that appear larger than my strength, remind me of Caleb.
He declared:
“Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.”
— Numbers 13:30
Give me courage like Caleb—not arrogance, but faith.
Teach me to measure the obstacle against Your power rather than measuring Your power against the obstacle.
When others say, “It cannot be done,” teach me to ask, “What has Hashem commanded?”
When circumstances say, “You cannot move forward,” teach me to seek Your instruction.
When history says, “This has always been this way,” teach me to remember that You are the God who changes circumstances and transforms lives.
PROTECT MY MIND
Father, guard my thoughts.
Guard my imagination.
Guard my attention.
Guard my emotions.
Do not allow the memory of previous battles to become a prophecy about my future.
Do not allow yesterday's wounds to dictate tomorrow's decisions.
Do not allow voices from the past to become louder than Your Word.
Your servant Isaiah wrote:
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee; because he trusteth in Thee.”
— Isaiah 26:3
So I set my mind upon You.
When fear rises, I return to You.
When confusion rises, I return to Your Word.
When discouragement rises, I return to Your promises.
When anger rises, I return to righteousness.
When temptation rises, I return to obedience.
When I feel alone, I remember Your presence.
PROTECTION FROM FALSE BATTLES
Father, give me discernment so that I do not fight battles You never commanded me to fight.
Not every disagreement is spiritual warfare.
Not every closed door is demonic resistance.
Not every difficult person is an enemy.
Not every delay means something is attacking me.
Not every hardship means I am outside Your will.
Teach me wisdom.
Teach me humility.
Teach me patience.
Teach me to examine myself.
Teach me to listen.
Teach me to pray before acting.
Teach me to seek righteous counsel.
Teach me to distinguish between genuine opposition, ordinary difficulty, consequences of my own choices, and circumstances that simply require endurance.
Your Word says:
“The simple believeth every word; but the prudent man looketh well to his going.”
— Proverbs 14:15
Make me prudent.
GIVE ME WISDOM TO CONQUER
Father, I ask not merely for breakthrough but for wisdom.
If You remove a wall, teach me how not to rebuild it.
If You open a door, teach me how to walk through it wisely.
If You restore something, teach me how to steward it.
If You give me freedom, teach me how to remain faithful.
If You give me authority, teach me humility.
If You give me provision, teach me generosity.
If You give me influence, teach me responsibility.
If You give me victory, teach me gratitude.
I remember the words of Solomon:
“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom.”
— Proverbs 4:7
Father, give me wisdom.
RESTORATION AFTER THE WALL FALLS
Father, I ask You to restore what has been damaged by years of resistance.
Restore hope.
Restore courage.
Restore healthy relationships.
Restore purpose.
Restore diligence.
Restore discipline.
Restore joy.
Restore spiritual hunger.
Restore the ability to dream righteous dreams.
Restore confidence in You.
Restore the desire to obey You.
Restore what can be restored according to Your will.
Joel declares:
“And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten.”
— Joel 2:25
Father, where restoration is possible, restore.
Where something cannot be restored exactly as it was, give me grace to receive what You are creating now.
Do not let me spend my life trying to rebuild the past when You are calling me into the future.
I DECLARE MY TRUST IN HASHEM
I declare that Hashem is my God.
I declare that He is my Rock.
I declare that He is my Fortress.
I declare that He is my Shield.
I declare that He is my Deliverer.
I declare that His Word is true.
I declare that His mercy endures.
I declare that His righteousness is perfect.
I declare that His wisdom is greater than mine.
I declare that His purposes cannot be defeated by human resistance.
I declare that my past does not have authority over my obedience today.
I declare that fear will not become my master.
I declare that bitterness will not become my identity.
I declare that failure will not become my destiny.
I declare that generational patterns do not excuse my own disobedience.
I declare that I belong to Hashem.
I declare that I will seek His Kingdom.
I declare that I will walk in repentance.
I declare that I will pursue righteousness.
I declare that I will forgive as He teaches me to forgive.
I declare that I will seek wisdom.
I declare that I will persevere.
I declare that I will trust Hashem.
THE WALLS MUST YIELD TO GOD'S WILL
Father, I place every ancient stronghold before You.
I place every persistent resistance before You.
I place every recurring obstacle before You.
I place every inherited pattern before You.
I place every hidden wound before You.
I place every false belief before You.
I place every destructive habit before You.
I place every fear before You.
I place every delay before You.
I place every unanswered question before You.
I place every difficult relationship before You.
I place every impossible-looking circumstance before You.
And I say:
Hashem, have Your way.
Not my will above Yours.
Not my timing above Yours.
Not my strategy above Yours.
Not my reputation above Yours.
Not my comfort above Yours.
Your will be done.
Yeshua taught us to pray:
“Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.”

So let Your Kingdom come into every area of my life.
Let Your righteousness come.
Let Your truth come.
Let Your peace come.
Let Your wisdom come.
Let Your justice come.
Let Your mercy come.
Let Your order come.
Let Your purposes be established.
I STAND IN FAITH
Father, I will stand.
I will pray.
I will obey.
I will repent when You correct me.
I will forgive when You command me.
I will persevere when You tell me to continue.
I will wait when You tell me to wait.
I will move when You tell me to move.
I will speak when You tell me to speak.

Give me wisdom to recognize the difference.

LET MY LIFE TESTIFY
Father, when You bring me through this season, let me remember You.
Do not let me become proud because the wall fell.
Do not let me forget the nights I prayed.
Do not let me forget the lessons You taught me.
Do not let me forget the people who helped me.
Do not let me forget that every victory ultimately belongs to You.
Let my testimony encourage someone else who is facing a wall.
Let someone who has been trapped in an old cycle discover hope.
Let someone who believes change is impossible see that transformation can begin with repentance and obedience.
Let someone who feels abandoned discover that Hashem has not abandoned them.
Let someone who is afraid learn courage.
Let someone who is discouraged learn perseverance.
Let someone who is spiritually hungry seek You.
Let my testimony glorify Your Name.

Abba, I surrender every ancient stronghold to You.
I surrender every persistent resistance to You.

Not unto my accomplishments.

Father, glorify Your Name.
Glorify Your Name in me.

Glorify Your Name through every breakthrough.
Glorify Your Name even in the waiting.
Let everything You do accomplish Your righteous purposes.
Let Your Kingdom expand through Yeshua the Messiah.
Let my life become a vessel of truth, mercy, righteousness, repentance, courage, and faithfulness.
I will trust You.
I will seek You.
I will obey You.
I will persevere.
I will not bow before ancient walls.
I will not worship yesterday's limitations.
I will not surrender to fear.
I will not abandon faithfulness because the road is difficult.
I will keep my eyes upon You.
Hashem is my Rock.
Hashem is my Fortress.
Hashem is my Shield.
Hashem is my Deliverer.
And I place my hope in You.
May Your Name be sanctified.
May Your Kingdom come.
May Your will be done.
May Your righteousness prevail.
May Your mercy endure.

And may everything accomplished through my life point back to the Father.
