What Would a Proverbs 31 Woman Do Right Now - The Question That Can Change the Way You Handle Today
Have you ever had one of those moments when you simply didn't know what to do next?
You know you should pray.
You know you should trust God.
You know you shouldn't react from fear.
But you're tired.
You're overwhelmed.
Your emotions are loud.
The situation feels complicated.
And somewhere between what happened yesterday and what might happen tomorrow, you find yourself quietly asking:
“Lord… what would a Proverbs 31 woman do right now?”
I know that question.
And perhaps you've asked it too.
Not because you are trying to become some picture-perfect woman who never cries, never gets frustrated, never makes mistakes, and somehow manages to have everything together before breakfast.
That's not the woman I see when I read Proverbs 31.
I see a woman who has responsibility, courage, wisdom, compassion, work, relationships, decisions, pressure, and faith.
And underneath all of it is something deeper.
She knows where her strength comes from.
“She is clothed with strength and dignity; and she laughs at the time to come.” — Proverbs 31:25
That verse doesn't describe a woman who has no problems.
It describes a woman who has learned where to stand when problems come.

WHAT WOULD SHE DO RIGHT NOW?
If I am honest, my first instinct isn't always wisdom.
Sometimes my first instinct is to react.
To defend myself.
To explain myself.
To replay the conversation.
To worry about what someone thinks.
To try to control an outcome that belongs in God's hands.
Maybe you've been there.
Maybe you're there right now.
So I've been learning to pause.
Before I answer.
Before I react.
Before I send the message.
Before I make the decision.
Before I allow fear to write the story.
I ask:
“What would a Proverbs 31 woman do right now?”
And that question brings me back to Scripture.
Not perfection.
Not performance.
Scripture.
1. SHE WOULD STOP AND SEEK GOD BEFORE REACTING
A godly woman doesn't have to answer every accusation immediately.
She doesn't have to win every argument.
She doesn't have to prove her worth to everyone.
Sometimes the most powerful thing I can do is become still enough to remember who God is.
The Psalms remind us:
“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10
Sometimes I need to stop talking long enough to hear what my heart is actually doing.
Am I responding from faith?
Or fear?
Am I responding from wisdom?
Or woundedness?
Am I trying to honor God?
Or am I trying to control how someone perceives me?
That pause can change everything.
A pause can prevent a reaction.
Prayer can redirect a response.
Wisdom can save me from consequences I didn't need to create.
2. SHE WOULD REMEMBER THAT FEAR DOESN'T HAVE TO RUN HER LIFE
There are moments when tomorrow feels enormous.
The bills.
The family situation.
The unanswered question.
The difficult conversation.
The unknown future.
The thing you cannot fix.
The thing you desperately wish you could change.
And then I remember Proverbs 31:25:
“She is clothed with strength and dignity; and she laughs at the time to come.”
I love that picture.
She isn't laughing because she knows everything about tomorrow.
She laughs because tomorrow doesn't belong to her.
God does.
And if God is already in tomorrow, I don't have to live there today.
I can meet today.
I can pray today.
I can obey today.
I can do the next right thing today.
3. SHE WOULD CHOOSE WISDOM OVER IMPULSE
This is where Proverbs 31 becomes incredibly practical.
The woman described in Scripture isn't merely admired because she looks spiritual.
She makes decisions.
She works.
She plans.
She manages.
She provides.
She considers.
She speaks.
She serves.
She acts.
Her faith isn't disconnected from everyday life.
It's woven into it.
Proverbs says:
“She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.” — Proverbs 31:26
Read that again.
Wisdom.
Kindness.
Not one without the other.
Because I can be technically right and still speak without grace.
I can know Scripture and still respond from pride.
I can have something important to say and still say it at the wrong time, in the wrong way, with the wrong heart.
So when I'm asking, “What would a Proverbs 31 woman do right now?”
Sometimes the answer is:
Speak.
Sometimes it's:
Stay quiet.
Sometimes it's:
Correct something.
Sometimes it's:
Extend mercy.
Sometimes it's:
Set a boundary.
Sometimes it's:
Walk away from unnecessary conflict.
The point isn't following a formula.
The point is learning to cultivate godly wisdom.
4. SHE WOULD TAKE CARE OF WHAT GOD HAS PUT IN FRONT OF HER
One thing I love about Proverbs 31 is how grounded she is.
She's not floating through life waiting for something extraordinary to happen.
She's handling what is already in her hands.
Proverbs says:
“She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.” — Proverbs 31:27
That challenges me.
Because sometimes I can become so focused on what I wish I could change that I overlook what God has actually placed in front of me.
Maybe today I need to:
- Make the phone call.
- Clean the room.
- Prepare the meal.
- Finish the assignment.
- Have the difficult conversation.
- Apologize.
- Forgive.
- Pray.
- Rest.
- Work.
- Encourage someone.
- Take care of myself responsibly.
- Stop procrastinating.
- Finally begin something God has been putting on my heart.
Faith doesn't always look dramatic.
Sometimes faith looks like doing today's assignment faithfully.
5. SHE WOULD REMEMBER THAT HER VALUE DOESN'T COME FROM APPLAUSE
This one is especially important.
Because we live in a world that constantly teaches women to measure themselves.
How do I look?
How successful am I?
How many people approve of me?
How much money do I make?
How many people follow me?
How productive am I?
How desirable am I?
How much attention am I receiving?
But Proverbs 31 ends somewhere much deeper.
“Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.” — Proverbs 31:30
There it is.
The center isn't appearance.
The center isn't popularity.
The center isn't applause.
The center is reverence for God.
That's the woman I want to become.
Not a woman performing godliness for an audience.
A woman who knows God when nobody is watching.
6. SHE WOULD LET GOD DEFINE HER, NOT THE LOUDest VOICE AROUND HER
Maybe someone has criticized you.
Maybe someone misunderstood you.
Maybe someone walked away.
Maybe someone didn't recognize your effort.
Maybe you didn't receive the appreciation you thought you deserved.
Maybe you've been comparing yourself to another woman.
And perhaps you've quietly wondered:
“Am I enough?”
I want to remind you of something beautiful.
Proverbs 31 doesn't tell women to become someone else.
It gives us a picture of godly character.
The goal isn't imitation for appearances.
It's transformation of the heart.
Yeshua taught:
“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” — Matthew 6:21
So I have to ask myself:
Where is my heart today?
What am I pursuing?
What am I protecting?
What am I afraid of losing?
What has become more important to me than obedience to God?
Those questions can be uncomfortable.
But they can also be liberating.
Because sometimes God isn't asking me to become more impressive.
He's asking me to become more faithful.
7. SHE WOULD REMEMBER THAT GOD SEES THE WORK NOBODY ELSE SEES
There is something profoundly comforting about Proverbs 31.
The woman's work is extensive.
But not every part of it is glamorous.
Some of the most meaningful things we do may never receive public recognition.
Nobody applauds the quiet prayer.
Nobody sees the tears you cried before getting back up.
Nobody notices every sacrifice.
Nobody knows how many times you chose patience when anger would have been easier.
Nobody knows how many times you encouraged someone while you were struggling yourself.
But God sees.
Yeshua said:
“And thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.” — Matthew 6:4
That changes how I think about hidden faithfulness.
I don't have to turn every act of obedience into a performance.
God sees.
8. SHE WOULD NOT CONFUSE BUSYNESS WITH PURPOSE
This is something I continually have to examine.
Being busy doesn't automatically mean I'm being fruitful.
I can fill my calendar and neglect my soul.
I can accomplish ten things and ignore the one thing that matters most.
I can serve everyone else while becoming spiritually exhausted.
So sometimes the Proverbs 31 question isn't:
“What more can I accomplish?”
Sometimes it's:
“What actually matters right now?”
Yeshua said:
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness.” — Matthew 6:33
First.
Not eventually.
Not when everything else is finished.
First.
That means my relationship with God cannot always be squeezed into whatever time is left over.
9. SHE WOULD SPEAK LIFE
Proverbs 31 describes a woman whose words carry wisdom and kindness.
And words matter.
One sentence can wound someone for years.
One sentence can also become the sentence someone remembers when they desperately need hope.
So before I speak, I want to ask:
Is this true?
Is this necessary?
Is this wise?
Is this kind?
Will these words honor God?
Yeshua taught:
“For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.” — Matthew 12:37
That's sobering.
My words aren't insignificant.
Neither are yours.
10. SHE WOULD GET BACK UP
Maybe this is the part somebody needs today.
You made a mistake.
You lost your patience.
You made a bad decision.
You procrastinated.
You compromised.
You trusted the wrong person.
You ignored wisdom.
You didn't handle yesterday the way you wish you had.
Okay.
Today is still here.
You can repent.
You can learn.
You can make a different choice.
You can ask God for wisdom.
You can begin again.
The Proverbs 31 woman isn't a woman who never needs growth.
She's a woman whose life points toward wisdom, diligence, strength, dignity, compassion, and reverence for God.
SO… WHAT WOULD A PROVERBS 31 WOMAN DO RIGHT NOW?
Maybe she'd pray before reacting.
Maybe she'd forgive.
Maybe she'd speak honestly.
Maybe she'd remain silent.
Maybe she'd work.
Maybe she'd rest.
Maybe she'd apologize.
Maybe she'd stop comparing herself to another woman.
Maybe she'd open her Bible.
Maybe she'd encourage her children.
Maybe she'd call a friend.
Maybe she'd finally start the thing she's been postponing.
Maybe she'd establish a healthy boundary.
Maybe she'd surrender something she's been trying desperately to control.
Maybe she'd simply whisper:
“Hashem, help me.”
And then take the next faithful step.
Because becoming a godly woman isn't accomplished in one dramatic moment.
It's built through thousands of ordinary decisions.
One day.
One prayer.
One conversation.
One act of obedience.
One choice at a time.
THAT IS WHY I CREATED THIS DEVOTIONAL
I created 30 Day Proverbs 31 Devotional – A Journey Into Godly Womanhood for the woman who doesn't just want to read Proverbs 31.
She wants to live it.
For the woman who wants to grow in godly character.
For the woman who wants biblical wisdom for ordinary life.
For the woman who wants to slow down and examine her heart.
For the woman who is rebuilding.
For the woman who is growing.
For the woman who is exhausted from trying to meet impossible expectations.
For the woman who wants her relationship with God to become more than a Sunday or Sabbath routine.
For the woman who wants to ask:
“How does God's Word change the way I live today?”
This devotional is an invitation to take a journey.
Not toward perfection.
Toward godly womanhood.
WHAT YOU'LL EXPLORE THROUGH THE 30 DAYS
Inside this devotional journey, you'll have an opportunity to reflect on themes such as:
- Strength
- Dignity
- Wisdom
- Kindness
- Courage
- Diligence
- Faithfulness
- Compassion
- Responsibility
- Self-discipline
- Biblical womanhood
- Trusting God
- Serving others
- Guarding your words
- Living with purpose
- Developing godly character
And perhaps most importantly:
You'll have space to ask what these biblical principles look like in your actual life.
Because Scripture wasn't given merely to decorate our bookshelves.
It was given to shape our lives.
THIS IS FOR THE WOMAN WHO KEEPS SAYING…
“I want to grow closer to God.”
“I want to become wiser.”
“I want to respond differently.”
“I want to stop letting fear control me.”
“I want to become the woman God is calling me to become.”
“I want something practical that helps me stay rooted in Scripture.”
“I want to understand Proverbs 31 beyond the surface.”
If any of those sentences sound like you, perhaps this 30-day journey is exactly the kind of intentional pause your heart has been asking for.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO BECOME HER OVERNIGHT
This is something I desperately want women to understand.
Don't read Proverbs 31 and walk away feeling like you'll never measure up.
Read it as an invitation.
An invitation to grow.
An invitation to examine.
An invitation to surrender.
An invitation to become wiser.
An invitation to let God work on the places that still need His touch.
Yeshua said:
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
That's the heart behind this journey.
Not pressure.
Not performance.
Not pretending.
A journey.
WHAT IF TODAY IS YOUR DAY TO BEGIN?
Maybe you've been waiting for the perfect time.
There isn't one.
Maybe you've been waiting until life calms down.
Maybe you've been waiting until you feel spiritually stronger.
Maybe you've been waiting until you have more time.
But what if you simply began with today?
Open your Bible.
Pray.
Read.
Reflect.
Write.
Listen.
Obey.
Grow.
And tomorrow?
Do it again.
Thirty days from now, you may look back and realize that something began changing—not because you suddenly became perfect, but because you intentionally gave God room to work in you.
ONE QUESTION FOR TODAY
Before you scroll away, stop for just a moment.
Take a breath.
And ask yourself:
“What would a Proverbs 31 woman do right now?”
Not tomorrow.
Not next month.
Right now.
Would she pray?
Would she forgive?
Would she speak with wisdom?
Would she choose kindness?
Would she stop comparing?
Would she get back to work?
Would she rest?
Would she surrender?
Would she trust God with tomorrow?
Whatever the answer is…
take that next faithful step.
YOUR 30-DAY JOURNEY INTO GODLY WOMANHOOD STARTS HERE
I created 30 Day Proverbs 31 Devotional – A Journey Into Godly Womanhood to help make that journey intentional.
Thirty days.
Thirty opportunities to slow down.
Thirty opportunities to reflect.
Thirty opportunities to bring God's Word into the ordinary places of life.
Not to become a woman who looks perfect from the outside.
But to pursue the kind of character that remains anchored when life isn't perfect.
Because the Proverbs 31 woman wasn't praised simply because she was productive.
She was honored because her life reflected something deeper.
Wisdom.
Strength.
Dignity.
Kindness.
Faithfulness.
And ultimately:
“a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.” — Proverbs 31:30
That is the woman I want to keep becoming.
And maybe…
that's the woman you've been longing to become too.
