Passover Seder Cheat Sheet - Concise, Organized and Easy to Follow

Here’s a detailed Passover Seder Cheat Sheet that’s concise, organized, and easy to follow. I’ve structured it so it’s quick to reference during the Seder.

Passover Seder Cheat Sheet

1. Preparation

  • Clean your home: Remove chametz (leavened bread, pastries, grains, etc.).
  • Set the Seder plate with:
    • Maror – bitter herbs (horseradish)
    • Charoset – sweet mixture of apples, nuts, wine, cinnamon
    • Karpas – vegetable (parsley)
    • Z’roa – roasted bone (shank)
    • Beitzah – roasted egg
    • Chazeret – optional second bitter herb
  • Set wine glasses – four cups of wine per person.
  • Have matzah ready – three pieces per person.
  • Haggadah – one per person (optional but helpful).

2. Seder Order (The 15 Steps / חלקי הסדר)

    • Blessing over the first cup of wine.
    • Drink the first cup.
  2. Urchatz – Washing

    • Wash hands without a blessing.

    • Dip parsley in salt water (symbolizes tears).
    • Say the blessing over vegetables.
  4. Yachatz – Breaking the Middle Matzah

    • Break middle matzah in half; half becomes the afikoman.
  5. Maggid – Telling the Story

    • Read the story of the Exodus.
    • Ask/answer the Four Questions (Mah Nishtanah).
    • Dip bitter herbs in charoset and eat.

  7. Motzi Matzah – Blessing Over Matzah

    • Blessing over matzah and eat a piece.
  8. Maror – Bitter Herbs

    • Eat bitter herbs; can dip in charoset.
  9. Korech – Hillel Sandwich

    • Eat matzah + maror together (like the sages).
  10. Shulchan Orech – Festive Meal

    • Enjoy the Passover dinner.
  11. Tzafun – Eating the Afikoman

    • Eat the hidden afikoman as dessert.
  12. Barech – Grace After Meals

    • Recite Birkat Hamazon (Grace after meals).
    • Drink the third cup of wine.
  13. Hallel – Praises

    • Recite psalms of praise.
    • Drink the fourth cup of wine.
  14. Nirtzah – Conclusion

    • Seder concludes with hope: “Next Year in Jerusalem!”

3. Four Cups of Wine
