Exodus 12:3-6 - The Lamb You Almost Missed - And the Night That Still Determines Your Destiny 🔥
Exodus 12:3-6.
I remember the first time I truly felt this passage.
Not just read it… not just heard it during Passover…
But felt it.
It was like something ancient reached into my present moment and whispered,
“This is not just history… this is your story.”
And maybe—just maybe—it’s yours too.
🕯️ The Night That Changed Everything (And Still Does)
“Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying: ‘On the tenth of this month every man shall take for himself a lamb…’” — Exodus 12:3
I want you to picture this with me.
Families in Egypt.
Fear in the air.
Judgment approaching.
And God doesn’t tell them to run.
He doesn’t tell them to fight.
He tells them to choose a lamb.
✨ Let that sink in:
Not a weapon
Not a strategy
Not a plan of escape
👉 A lamb.
And not just any lamb…
“Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year…” — Exodus 12:5
Perfect.
Innocent.
Set apart.
💔 The Part That Breaks Me Every Time
“Now you shall keep it until the fourteenth day…” — Exodus 12:6
Do you see it?
They didn’t just sacrifice the lamb the same day.
They lived with it.
For four days.
I imagine:
Children naming the lamb
Holding it
Feeding it
Laughing with it
And then…
They had to let it die.
😭 Why would God do that?
Because this wasn’t just about obedience.
This was about the heart.
God was teaching them:
“Deliverance is not cheap. Salvation is not distant. It is personal.”
🩸 The Blood That Speaks
“…and the whole assembly… shall kill it at twilight.” — Exodus 12:6
Then came the instruction that changed everything:
“And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts…” — Exodus 12:7
🚪 Imagine standing there…
Your hands shaking.
Your future uncertain.
And the only thing between your household and death…
Is the blood of a lamb.
God said:
“When I see the blood, I will pass over you.” — Exodus 12:13
Not when I see your perfection.
Not when I see your effort.
Not when I see your worthiness.
👉 When I see the blood.
✡️ The Connection We Can’t Ignore
Years later…
Another Lamb appears.
And this time, it’s not hidden in a home in Egypt.
It’s walking in the open.
“Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” — John 1:29
When I first read that, something inside me shook.
Because suddenly…
Exodus wasn’t just about Israel leaving Egypt.
It was pointing forward.
🕊️ Yeshua — The Lamb We Were Meant to Recognize
Let me show you something that changed my life:
The Passover lamb had to be without blemish
→ Yeshua lived without sin (John 8:46)The lamb was chosen on the 10th day
→ Yeshua entered Jerusalem and was publicly presentedThe lamb was examined for days
→ Yeshua was questioned, tested, and found blamelessThe lamb was killed at twilight
→ Yeshua died at Passover
This is not coincidence.
This is design.
😢 The Problem We Don’t Want to Admit
Can I be honest with you?
Sometimes we live like we’re still in Egypt…
Even after God has made a way out.
We struggle with:
Fear that won’t go away
Guilt that keeps whispering
Cycles we can’t seem to break
Faith that feels… fragile
And deep down, we wonder:
👉 “Is the blood really enough… for me?”
🔥 The Answer That Changes Everything
Yeshua said:
“This is My blood of the covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” — Matthew 26:28
Not might be enough.
Not hopefully works.
👉 It is enough.
And just like in Egypt…
The question is not:
“Is the lamb worthy?”
The question is:
👉 Have you applied the blood?
🧠 A Hard Truth (But a Loving One)
In Egypt, it wasn’t enough to believe in the lamb.
They had to:
Choose it
Trust it
Apply its blood
And I feel this deeply…
Because sometimes I realize:
I admire Yeshua…
But I don’t always fully trust Him with my fears.
💡 What This Means for Us Today
This isn’t just a story to remember during Passover.
This is a pattern for freedom.
🗝️ Here’s how we walk it out:
1. Choose the Lamb daily
Not religion
Not performance
Not striving
👉 Yeshua.
2. Let it become personal
This isn’t your parents’ faith
This isn’t your community’s tradition
👉 This is your covenant
3. Apply the blood to your life
Over your thoughts
Over your home
Over your identity
4. Trust what God sees, not what you feel
Feelings say: “I’m not enough”
God says: “I see the blood”
🌊 The Moment Everything Shifted for Me
There was a moment…
When I stopped trying to prove myself to God…
And I started trusting what He already provided.
And it felt like stepping out of Egypt for the first time.
Not perfect.
Not polished.
But free.
🙏 A Question I Can’t Ignore (And Maybe You Can’t Either)
If the destroyer passed through your life tonight…
What would be on your door?
Your effort?
Your goodness?
Your intentions?
Or…
👉 The blood of the Lamb?
❤️ Final Thought: The Invitation Still Stands
Yeshua said:
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
This is not just theology.
This is rescue.
And the same God who passed over homes in Egypt…
Is still looking today.
Not for perfection.
Not for performance.
👉 But for the covering of the Lamb.
🔥 Don’t Miss What They Almost Missed
Some in Egypt probably hesitated.
Some probably doubted.
Some may have thought:
“This is too simple…”
But those who trusted…
Lived.
And today, we stand in that same moment.
🕯️ Choose the Lamb.
🩸 Trust the blood.
🚪 Step into freedom.
Because the night of Passover…
Was never just about then.
👉 It was always about now.
