I didn’t expect the parsley to confront me.

It seemed so small… so insignificant on the Seder plate. Just a green leaf. Just a tradition. Just something we dip and move past quickly.

But that night, I paused.

And something in my spirit whispered:

“You’ve been skipping over this your whole life.”

Karpas is the green vegetable we dip into salt water during Passover.

We’re told it represents:

We dip it into salt water—the symbol of tears.

And suddenly, it doesn’t feel so simple anymore.

Here’s the truth I had to face:

I love celebrating redemption… but I avoid confronting pain.

I want:

The miracles
The breakthrough
The promises

But I don’t want:

The tears
The waiting
The hidden seasons of sorrow

And yet… Karpas refuses to let me skip that part.

📖 The Pattern Was Always There

When I looked deeper into Scripture, I realized something shocking:

God never separates growth from grief.

“They cried, and their cry came up unto God… and God heard their groaning.” — Exodus 2:23–24

Before redemption came…

There was crying
There was groaning
There was long, silent suffering

And God didn’t ignore it.

He responded to it.

🌊 Why Salt Water Comes First

The salt water isn’t random.

It represents:

The tears of slavery in Egypt
The tears we still carry today
The tears we often try to hide—even from God

And here’s what shook me:

We are commanded to dip the symbol of life into the symbol of tears.

Why?

Because:

Real life is born in places we thought were only pain.

🌱 Yeshua Revealed This Secret

When I read the words of Yeshua, it all clicked.

“Unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much fruit.” — John 12:24

I used to read that and think it was poetic.

But now I see it’s deeply personal.

The seed must be buried
The seed must break
The seed must “disappear”

Only then…

Life multiplies.

😔 The Hidden Struggle We All Share

Let me be honest with you.

There have been seasons where I felt:

Forgotten
Delayed
Spiritually dry
Emotionally overwhelmed

And I kept asking:

“God, where is the life You promised?”

But I was asking the wrong question.

🔑 The Question That Changed Everything

Instead of asking, “Where is the life?”

I started asking:

“What if this is the soil?”

🌿 Karpas Is a Mirror

That green vegetable… it’s not just symbolic.

It’s a mirror.

It asks me:

Where are you resisting the process?
What pain are you refusing to bring before God?
What tears have you buried instead of surrendered?

Because here’s the truth:

Unprocessed pain delays revealed purpose.

📖 The Psalms Say It Clearly

“Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy.” — Psalm 126:5

Not might.

Not maybe.

Shall.

But notice the order:

Sowing in tears
Reaping in joy

We want to skip step one.

God never does.

🌊 The Invitation Hidden in Karpas

When I dip the Karpas now, I do it differently.

I slow down.

I feel it.

I remember:

Every unanswered prayer
Every silent night
Every moment I wondered if God saw me

And then I hear His whisper again:

“I saw all of it.”

“Yeshua wept.” — John 11:35

He knew resurrection was coming.
