Zeroa.

I used to think it was just a symbol.

A roasted bone on the Seder plate.
A reminder.
A memory of something that happened long ago.

But one night… something shifted inside me.

I wasn’t just remembering redemption anymore.

I realized I might be standing right in front of it—and still missing it.

🌿 The Moment That Changed Everything

I was sitting at the table, going through the familiar rhythm of Passover.

• The bitter herbs.

• The unleavened bread.

• The telling of the Exodus story.

And then my eyes rested on the Zeroa.

That roasted lamb shank bone.

And I felt a quiet question rise up inside me:

“Why is the lamb missing?”

Because in the days of the Temple, the lamb wasn’t symbolic.

It was everything.

🩸 The First Lamb Was Never Optional

Let me take you back.

Not to a story—but to a night that still echoes.

“Speak to all the congregation of Israel… every man shall take for himself a lamb… without blemish… and the whole assembly… shall kill it at twilight.” (Exodus 12:3–6)

This wasn’t symbolic.

This was urgent.

This was life or death.

• No lamb → No blood

• No blood → No protection

• No protection → No deliverance

And then came the instruction that still shakes me:

“And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel…” (Exodus 12:7)

Not admire the lamb.
Not discuss the lamb.
Not agree with the lamb.

Apply the blood.

⚠️ The Problem We Don’t Talk About

Here’s where it gets uncomfortable.

I realized something that night:

It was possible to believe in the story… and still not be covered by it.

Let that sink in.

You could:

• Know the commandments

• Celebrate the feast

• Retell the Exodus

…and still not have the blood applied.

🕯️ When Memory Replaces Encounter

Somewhere along the way, Zeroa became safe.

Predictable.

Contained.

But the original Passover?

It was raw.

It was urgent.

It demanded a response.

And then I heard the words of Yeshua differently than I ever had before:

“Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29)

Not a symbol.

Not a metaphor.

A fulfillment.

🐑 The Lamb You Might Be Overlooking

I had always believed in Yeshua.

But that night, I had to ask myself a deeper question:

Have I applied the blood… or have I just admired the Lamb?

Because there’s a difference.

A big one.

Yeshua didn’t come to be remembered.

He came to redeem.

🔥 The Pattern Was Always Pointing Forward

The Torah wasn’t random.

It was prophetic.

Every detail whispered something greater:

• A lamb without blemish → A perfect sacrifice

• Blood on the doorposts → Covering from judgment

• Eating the lamb → Internalizing redemption

And then Yeshua says something that used to confuse me… until it didn’t:

“Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life…” (John 6:54)

He wasn’t being strange.

He was being specific.

Just like in Egypt:

Redemption must be received—not just observed.

💔 The Hidden Struggle We Carry

Let me be honest.

Sometimes I live like I’m still in Egypt.

• Fear still whispers

• Shame still lingers

• Bondage still tries to define me

Even though the Lamb has already been provided.

Even though the blood has already been shed.

🗝️ The Breakthrough I Didn’t Expect

That night, staring at the Zeroa, I realized:

I didn’t need another reminder.
I needed a deeper surrender.

Because redemption isn’t just:

• A past event

• A theological belief

• A holiday tradition

It’s a daily covering.

🌊 Crossing Over Is Personal

Everyone in Israel had to choose.

The lamb was provided for all…

But the blood had to be applied individually.

And Yeshua makes it just as personal:

“Enter by the narrow gate…” (Matthew 7:13)

Not admire the gate.
Not study the gate.
Enter.

🔍 How Do I Know If I’ve Truly Embraced the Lamb?

This question hit me hard.

So I sat with it.

And here’s what I found:

✅ Signs I’ve only remembered the Lamb:

• I feel distant from God

• I rely on ritual without heart

• I struggle with ongoing guilt

• I keep trying to “earn” freedom

🔥 Signs I’ve embraced the Lamb:

• I walk in peace, even in chaos

• I trust His covering over my failures

• I live from identity—not fear

• I respond to Him daily, not occasionally

🕊️ The Invitation Hidden in Zeroa

Zeroa isn’t just about what was.

It’s about what still is.

An invitation.

A calling.

A quiet whisper saying:

“Don’t just remember the Lamb. Receive Him.”

📖 The Words I Can’t Ignore Anymore

Yeshua said:

“This is My blood of the covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” (Matthew 26:28)

And suddenly, the connection became undeniable.

• The blood in Egypt → Temporary covering

• The blood of Yeshua → Eternal redemption

🔥 What I Do Now (And Maybe You Should Too)

I don’t look at Zeroa the same anymore.

Now, when I see it, I pause.

And I ask myself:

• Have I fully trusted the Lamb today?

• Am I living like I’m covered… or still striving?

• Have I invited His redemption into every area of my life?

💬 Final Thought: Don’t Miss What Your Soul Is Crying For

You can sit at the table.

You can tell the story.

You can hold the tradition.

But don’t miss the Person it all points to.

Because the greatest tragedy isn’t rejecting the Lamb…

It’s almost embracing Him.
