Sardine Sandwiches | Homemade Kosher Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cans of kosher sardines in oil, drained
- 4 slices of kosher whole wheat bread
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise (kosher-certified)
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (kosher-certified)
- 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Lettuce or arugula leaves for serving
Instructions:
1. In a medium bowl, mash the drained sardines with a fork until they are well broken down.
2. Add mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, chopped red onion, chopped fresh dill, salt, and pepper to the bowl. Mix everything together until well combined.
3. Taste and adjust the seasonings according to your preference.
4. Toast the slices of whole wheat bread until they are crispy and golden.
5. Spread the sardine mixture evenly over two slices of the toasted bread.
6. Place lettuce or arugula leaves on the other two slices of bread.
7. Carefully assemble the sandwiches by placing the bread with the sardine mixture on top of the lettuce or arugula leaves.
8. Cut the sandwiches diagonally into halves or quarters for easier handling.
9. Serve the sardine sandwiches immediately and enjoy!
