Unravelling The Mystery | Who Were The Kohathites In The Bible

In the pages of the Bible we come across various names and clans that played significant roles in the history of the Israelites. One such group is the Kohathites a prominent Levite clan with a rich and intriguing history. Unraveling the mystery of who the Kohathites were sheds light on their importance and the divine duties they fulfilled in biblical times.

The Kohathites were descendants of Kohath the second son of Levi who was one of the twelve sons of Jacob. Levi along with his brothers was chosen by God to be set apart as priests and serve in the tabernacle the sacred dwelling place of God among the Israelites. As part of the Levite clan the Kohathites were entrusted with specific responsibilities related to the tabernacle and the worship of God.

One of the most significant roles of the Kohathites was the transportation and care of the sacred objects and furnishings of the tabernacle.
